Keyboard protection: how thick is a cloth? I want this primarily to protect the laptop screen from the keyboard.

approx. 1/2mm thick. Pretty thin and still stretchy. Well suited for this purpose ,-) Anyone expecting a "thick" towel will be disappointed, because these towels are thin. However, this is not a disadvantage, but an advantage, because this way you can easily get to the edge of the glasses or behind the bridge of the nose to clean.
