I read many reviews about getting an alert on your phone when motion is detected, but unclear if the chime can ring as well?

I don’t think it’s possible to have the chime ring when motion is detected. I never tried that but it would be very annoying if it did.

If you want the ring like a regular door bell you would need to buy the adapter. Otherwise you can only here it when you at the door bell. It does have on your phone stay or away settings. Extremely clear video on your phone.
