Why won't this work on an a7R? It says its not compatible in the description, but I thought NEX and A7R's had the same e mount?

It should work just fine. I use it on the a6300 which is the exact same mount as the a7r.

I use the OM version with the A7r on a regular basis. Works fine as long as you understand that the adapter conveys no electronic info to the camera. No Auto focus, electronic aperture control, or lens related metadata functions are possible. All this is fine if you have mechanical control of focus & aperture and don't mind the manual adjustment.
