how to secure the camera from thieves?

I found a padlock that worked (at a local True Value) and then used a coil to run thru the padlock and around the tree. I use the strap that comes with the camera to fasten the unit snugly to the tree. I leave the coil a little loose so that it hangs below the camera and does not interfere with the lenses or sensor.

I suggest that the camera be hidden, can be placed in the grass, on the tree and covered with branches

The outer case has a spot to put a pad lock but the strap that holds the case can not be secured from being taken all together.

Best way is a good hiding place or enclosure.
