Great Lens
I've had this lens for about a year. I first used it on my Canon 50D and I was very happy with it, but I buy/bought all of my lenses with the ultimate goal of moving to a full frame.I received my Canon 5D Mark II today and the first lens I put on it was this one. I actually gasped because I was so shocked by how much wider it was. It's a great lens - I used it quite a bit with my 50D and was very happy with it, but now that I've seen it with a full frame I'm completely amazed. I would recommend it to anyone, but especially someone with a full frame or with aspirations of eventually owning a full frame camera.

The color science on this is gorgeous.
Look, it's a Canon, so it's gonna be built excellently. There's not much to say about the EOS R that you won't find in other reviews, but consider this:- You get a full frame mirrorless while staying in Canon land. All your Canon gear continues to function.- The form factor is actually better than the 5D/6Ds because of the slimmer body. The grip feels more stable.- The touch-sensitive slider switch is weird but you can just not use it. Would have been nice to better use that real estate for something else (like a real switch), my guess is they don't use it on the next models. It's not a big deal either way.- You get a 1.7x crop on 4K video. Yes, too bad, but the only other option in this price range is the Sony A7, which means getting all new (and more expensive) lenses. All other cameras will give you similar crops or aren't even full frame.- You need the mount if you're using any EF lenses (which is 99% of the reason to buy this over a Sony A7) which adds a bit of weight and size, and they can be COSTLY, BUT:- The adapters can come with dials for another way to configure the camera or drop in filter slot for a polarizer or variable filter. These things are pricey but even more convenient than using traditional filters, so if you can afford it, it's actually a great use of space. And most importantly:- The color science is amazing out of the box. The camera performs amazingly. Added photo is just a random picture after unboxing with no edits.

It punches well above its weight
This lens performs far better than expected for its price point. I have used it on both APS-C and full frame with good results. The autofocus outperforms the 50mm F1.4 in accuracy and consistency which is far more critical than the extra bit of light you get with the older more expensive 1.4 USM.

Good for APS-C Cameras
Despite this lens is not good for full frame cameras, it is an excellent option for a APS-C size sensor such as Canon 50D and Rebel T1i. On a full frame camera, this lens produce soft corners however, because of the crop effect of APS-C sensor this problem does not show up in the pictures and the lens deliver Pin Sharp pictures from the center to the corner always. As any Canon L series lens, the image is superb with high resolution and wonderful color saturation. The construction is also superb and comes with lens hood as well which is a plus. One also have to consider the prices which is very low for a Canon L lens. I certainly recommend this lens for any APS-C sensor cameras. It is a must have... A keeper... A winner...

Jack of All Trades
I just switched from APSC to full frame and I only had a 50 f1.8. I needed one lens that could do it all, photos and videos so I got this. This lens is decent but nothing amazing. Constant f4 and IS is good for video work. And the range covers from wide to tele. However, the corners are a little soft. If you take photos only or you use a stabilizer for video, buy the 24-70 f2.8 instead.

You will not find a better made or better performi
You will not find a better made or better performing lens for the price. I find it to narrow on full-frame for an all purpose lens, but there are a ton of people who disagree. It works great as a portrait lens on ef-s mount bodies. Really sharp, nice bokeh, decent build quality and autofocus. Couldn't ask for more for the price. The only other lens Canon makes that's better in the price range is the 22mm, but that's eos-m mount. I've heard good things about the 24mm f/2.8 though.

you dont really get this lens..this is only for fu
this lens is goodvery sharpand very goodbut not enough zoom rangeand it is only for full frame machinesespecially for film slr sbecause in a crop factor dslr it is not enough and it is not wide enough..canon 10-22 is more good than thisfor a full frame there is some vignettint issues and corner softness..so this is only good for film slrif you have rebel series or 20d 30 d go with canon 10-22if you have film slr buy this lens

Q
What size are these? Are they compact or full size?
A
They are full size, but lite weight. We are very pleased with them.
Q
The lens cap could not be attached to flower/tulip lens hood
A
All the K&F concept lens cap is screw-on cap, but the outer frame of lens hood features with no thread, so once attach them together, will be easily fall off, we suggest to attach the lens cap directly to lens instead of lens hood.
Q
The difference between APS-C, full-frame, 4/3 sensor
A
  1. Adapting APS-frame lens to full-frame camera, it may generate vignetting, some cameras could correct it by adjust APSC, please contact us and provide your lens&camera model to check the way to correct it.
  2. Adapting full-frame lens to APS-frame camera (i.e: large format to medium format, medium format to 35mm, 35mm to micro 4/3) provides excellent edge-to-edge sharpness. The smaller image field helps minimize the effects of lens distortion and aberration by using the 'sweet spot' or center of the larger lens image circle. and it will magnify the focal length by 1.6 on Canon, 1.5 on Nikon and Sony,2.0 on M4/3 camera.

Q
Does this work with Sony a7s mark ii?
A
This 100% works on any of the A7 series. it works on my A6000, a7r2 and a7r3. If the body is E-mount it will work. If the body is A-mount it will not.
Q
Does this fit a Tamron 77 wide angle lense?
A
you said (Tamron 77 wide angle lense?) the lens info can't be right! do you have the full name of the lens.
