Very Nice Sound Selection, Good Tone, Easy To Oper
I'm getting to be somewhat of an expert on sound/sleep machines. Somewhere down the line I must have decided to make it into a collection or a hobby.I just got the Ecotones Sound + Sleep Machine. When I ordered it, I read about the various options, the 'Adaptive' and the 'Richness' buttons. It sounded complicated and I wondered if I wanted to spend the time reading the user manual. It arrived. I opened the box, inserted the cord, plugged it into the wall, and it worked. I didn't need to do anything else unless I wanted more variety. The operation couldn't be more simple. It's easy to operate. The sounds are pleasant. I'm in my office about to get back to work and the brook in the background is going to be a perfect sound to keep me relaxed and invigorated as I work. Right now I have "Adaptive" turned off, because I don't want it to get louder as I talk on the phone. I will use "Adaptive" at night when the neighbor's dog barks. I'll use it when all the neighbors are using big, noisy mowing equipment and on those days when airplanes and helicopters seem to have chosen to fly right over my house.I like the "Richness" setting. It's so easy. You don't use it if you want the pure brook sound or just rain. If you want a little extra added sound to change things around a little, click it once and one little light appears to show you that it will now add a very moderate amount of other sound to it, maybe some thunder with that rain, for example. Then if you want to take it to the next level, you hit that button again and you have 2 lights, to indicate that you will have more dramatic added sound. In some cases you'll have more of a thunderstorm, or you might have birds. The brook adds bird sounds, but they aren't intrusive.I do want to make a note that if it ever stops working, it may just need to be reset. First power off the unit, then press the Power Button and hold for 5 seconds. This also resets it to the factory settings. Otherwise it goes back to the last setting you used.I believe someone else mentioned earlier as I was reading through all of the reviews before I made my purchase, this is not a machine that you are going to want to bounce around on the floor. Some are made to take rough treatment. This one needs to be cared for appropriately so that it will hopefully last a long time. It's attractive and looks tough, but the electronics inside won't last if it gets dropped on the floor as I do with other things, my phone, my stapler, my computer mouse, etc. I plan on taking better care of it than I usually do, so it will last longer.I believe this one is in the running for being my favorite. It has sounds that I enjoy listening to or sleeping by, it's not so complicated to operate that it frustrates me, it's fairly attractive, and has lots of easy-to-operate options to change things around occasionally, or not.
