The Sky's the Limit (Also Canon's Number of Availa
Works great with my Canon M50 and lets me use standard canon 50mm lenses. The only thing to keep in mind is that with this adapter, a 50mm lens is equivalent to a 85mm lens on a DSLR. The product's quality is amazing!

Makes my 50mm 1.2L a heavy "special occasion" lens
I fully admit I have a love hate relationship with Canon’s flagship 50 1.2L. I’ve owned it for years, and it has taken some of my most favorite portraits. However, due to the back-focusing and the weight, I thought I’d try this entry 50 1.8 STM just to compare. And I was pleasantly surprised. This lens is sharp. Really sharp. Pretty much through the range. Subjectively close to the L. And since the back-focusing issues are non-existent, I actually got more usable shots. The weight is a revelation…so nice on my battery gripped 5D3. Feels like nothing, but still solid built.Trade-offs? A nervous bokeh and heavy vignetting. The bokeh is only really noticeable to people who are pixel geeks (like me!). But it’s there. I’ve uploaded a non-obvious example. Notice how the grass around the dog looks like it’s “moving”, vs. falling away or blurring naturally. But compared to the old 50 1.8 ii, the seven blades help with light bokeh. Only when compared back-to-back with the L, do you see that off-angle lights don’t represent as clean. But that’s it.The second issue is heavy vignetting. Lightroom has a one-click preset or that issue. It’s charming, but an annoyance at best. So no real problems there.Last, and now I’m really searching, the colors don’t render quite as vibrant as the L. But remember 10x the price! Again, a little post goes a long way.All in all, for $125, one tenth of my 1.2L, this lens is a dream. Your first lens you buy past your kit lens. The perfect walk around lens. Super sharp. And so light, consider it a functional body cap, or a pancake.Or the best value in lenses Canon offers.

A HUGE step-up from the original EF 50mm 1.8 lens
BACKGROUND:Let me start by saying I'm a hobbyist photographer and I've been shooting with a Canon Rebel T1i (500D) for the past 10 years. I was heavily budget-constrained, so I rocked my OG Canon 50mm 1.8 (non-STM) version since 2010. For $150 at the time, it was a fast lens that was affordable to most novice DSLR photographers like myself. After recently getting back into my hobby after a couple years of being tied up with other stuff, I noticed my 50mm was producing softer images than I remember. It had never been dropped or otherwise abused, but it just seemed to be not performing the way I expected. The autofocus was reasonably quick, but very loud and lacking in smoothness and accuracy.BUILD QUALITY:Now that I had a little more money saved up, I decided to purchase the updated STM version of this lens and this is a MASSIVE leap from the old version. The build quality and finish, while still being mostly plastic, feels way more robust. The cheap shiny finish of the old version was gone in favor of a beefier, textured plastic. Also, the lens mount itself is now made of aluminum which fits very firmly against the camera body.PERFORMANCE:After testing it out I can say BOY is this thing tack sharp. With my old lens, I had to shoot at F/2.8 if I wanted anything with usable sharpness. This lens is producing razor sharp images wide-open and the autofocus is extremely quiet, smooth and accurate. It is still audible but you really have to listen for it. As far as speed goes, it doesn't seem much quicker than the old 50mm, but is way more accurate and reliable. The quiet STM focusing makes this usable for video, whereas the old version simply wasn'tJust keep in mind the manual focus still uses an internal motor to move the lens elements. With the camera turned off, turning the focus ring doesn't do anything. Also, on an older camera body like my T1i, turning off the camera wouldn't retract the lens barrel. Now that I've upgraded to a Canon 90D, I noticed turning off the camera will auto-retract the lens barrel all the way, making it suitable to store in a bag without damaging the lens.SUMMARY:If you're getting into DSLR photography and have a reasonably modern Canon DSLR body, this lens is a must-have. For $125 at the time of this review, it's even cheaper than the old lens (especially accounting for inflation), while out-performing it in nearly every metric. Prime lenses are the kings of affordable speed and sharpness, and this lens is right up there with the very best primes you can buy for under $500. If you aren't jumping on the mirrorless camera bandwagon, this is an excellent lens for both full-frame and crop sensor Canon DSLRs.

Awesome
I have the Canon 50 f/1.2L as well. This lens does it's job very very well. It doesn't quite autofocus as fast as the L and the L isn't that fast. But for sub $150, it's a steal for the sharpness you receive and especially since it is a fast lens. I also have the mark ii and autofocus seems a tad faster. The bokeh though seems a lot better due to more blades used in the lens

Best RF lens for the money
I own the Canon R 5 and have the RF 50 1.2, RF 85 1.2, RF 24-105 f4 and the RF 70-200 2.8... oh and this one.I was surprised by how close they are in terms of quality. Weirdly enough, the autofocus is the biggest minus for me with the lens. It's not DSLR bad, but not as good as the lenses mentioned above.I you pixel peep 300% I'm sure the other lenses are sharper. But for normal use and even on a 4k 28" screen, it's hard to see a difference. But witht the portability and size, this is the lens I'll never sell. I've taken some of my favorite shots with the lens. The IS and macro is a big plus too. Some say they dont like the bokeh, but im happy with it, actually more than happy with it, but maybe thats subjective i dont know.

This is optically the same quality as my Yongnuo 2X TC III.. The reason that I buy this is because this works pretty good when use on sigma MC-11 adapter for Canon EF to Sony E.. The Yongnuo 2X TC III will not work with MC-11 when used with my Canon 200mm F2/L.

Q
I currently own 3 a-mount lense (from a sony a230) just bought a sony a5000, which is an emount. Will this adapter fit my old lenses to my new camera?
A
No, this adapter is for the older manual focus Minolta Rokkor MC and MD lenses. If you want to autofocus and aperture control you will need the Sony LA-EA4. (the lower cost Sony LA-EA3 will electronically connect A mount lenses but you will have to manually focus.)
