Quality without the Big Price Tag
If you, like most of us, are looking to protect your expensive precision lenses on your camera and you are wondering whether such an inexpensive 'Basics' brand is really up to the job, then you need not worry. This filter comes beautifully packaged in a custom sized cardboard box which in turn contains a good casket which holds the filter firmly in place. This standard extends to the build quality and in use this is an excellent way of protecting your lens from dirt, scratches and moisture. In terms of reducing UV glare the impact is only modest, but then this is also the case with famous names like Hoya. I noticed no reduction in sharpness or colour when the filter was attached. Given the hundreds of pounds you can have to shell out if you damage a good lens these filters are self recommending.

Great protection
I bought this for my sigma 150-600mm lens purely to protect it. To be honest I was astounded at the price, very expensive for a protective filter but I didn't want a cheap filter on such an expensive lens.

A Less Expensive Circular Polarizer
I have used B+W filters on my lenses and have been very pleased with the results. While higher priced, B+W filters are well built and have a good reputation among professional photographers. As a hobbyist, I don’t necessarily need to spend the premium prices charged by other more expensive filter manufacturers. So the AmazonBasics filter seems like a good option. I have generally had very good results with Amazon Basics products. The 58 mm AmazonBasics Circular Polarizer is considerably less expensive than other circular polarizers and certainly makes colors vivid and look more vibrant. The filter appears well made and, as an AmazonBasics product, comes in a plain box (and a plastic holder for the filter).I used the filter on to my 55-300mm lens, and it is relatively easy to attach. Those new to photography should know that circular polarizing filters have two moving parts; the outer ring turns continuously (and the user should adjust it clockwise or counter-clockwise to change the level of polarization) while the back part of the filter attaches to the lens. Of course, since this is an AmazonBasics product, there is no user’s guide or information about how to use a circular polarizer. Those with big hands or thick fingers may find it difficult to tighten the filter, as the back ring is relatively thin.

Does the job
A cheap filter to protect an expensive lens. Does the job just as good as any other, at a great price.

Great bang for the buck
Really impressed with the filter. I’ve had expensive and cheap ND filters in the past and this filter gives you great images with little to no color change. Great filter without having to spend $100+.

Good Quality
It is good quality for the price. But I have not compared it to super expensive lens filters. I don't notice any drop off in the picture quality and should give it 5 stars. Except for the fact some people will swear the filter costing 3x the price is better quality. I don't doubt that. But I am not a super pixel inspector. The filter gets the job done. I top quality, and protects the expensive lens. So get one and don't second guess the quality you might get by spending 3x the price.

Good value
This is a great filter for the price. I've tried others that were less expensive and they worked that way, cheap. This is a good value.

Awesome cheap alternative
This is a great protection lens filter. Someone recommended a more expensive one, but this ended up as a suggestion after looking at the other. Since I know next to nothing about photography and quality gear, I decided to purchase this one as it was the much cheaper option. I think it works wonderfully! I use it on my Nikon 50mm lens, and it works great to keep my lens from getting smudged by my dog who loves to touch his nose to the camera.

Q
is it okay to clean it with alcohol?
A
It's better to buy a cleaning fluid for lens filter.
Q
can i use this as a rifle shooting spot scope?
A
If 10x is all you need. They have a very sharp focus. On the upside there cheap and have a clear sharp focus that may serve as a a spotting scope if you use a 50cal. @ 100 yards. That’s monocular humor.
Q
Why does it suddenly stop working? do i have a dud? using an asus laptop with a hub connector.
A
My camera really doesn't like my hub either. I don't know if it is because my hub is a cheap Chinese one or not, but I would just try to go direct in, bypass the hub.
Q
On a 52mm ND Filter, what is the accessory size? 55mm?
A
Yes
Q
Wil this work with the Nikon D5500?
A
I don't see why not, remember that the filter goes on the lens, not on the camera.
