I would not recommend it to a friend, I bought it to use it for taking shots of the ocean against the rocks, well when I place it to Max it does not close the whole disc black but does a star shape so that in the picture the corners are blown out and it gives a lot of cross-polarization. I was told it is common when you buy variable density filters that are not fixed. I just bought and received the Image ND 2 4 6 replacement filter kit and worked much better for me for what I was trying to accomplish. updated - Oct 27th - I am told that to use this filter it is best used at a 90 degree angle of the sun, that is you place your sholder facing the sun then stick your arm out in front of you at that in 90 degrees to help with flare and cross-polarization.

IT'S CONVENIENT TO HAVE MY PHONE ON THE DASH. I CAN SEE WHO IS CALLING AND DECIDE TO ANSWER OR TELL THEM TO TEXT ME BECAUSE I CAN'T TALK RIGHT NOW.HERE IN THE FLORIDA SUN, WE NEED TO PROTECT OUR "STUFF" OR IT'S ACCESSORIES FROM THE HEAT AND DIRECT SUN. SO IT SHOULD BE COVERED WITH YOUR CARS WINDSHIELD SHADE.

Would recommend this lens filter to get sharp picture quality. See my pic.

I use a uv filter to protect the lens, but sometimes you get glaring if pointed near the sun as expected as they all do unless its coated. Good lens.

I have been using this filter to protect my lens and it has done the job.

Easy to use with my Nikkor 18-140mm lens. I love the way the water looks while using this. See the attached manatee picture and notice the shadow on the manatee from the leaf which proves the manatee is a few inches under the water. This is why I love this filter.

I bought this filter to use in bright sun light with flash without always having to use hss.
