Well made.
Very smooth operation and it holds my Nikon DSLR with a 600mm lens attached without any problems. The panning feature is very smooth as well and locks in place with little effort.

great little solid and substantial camera with goo
I am a serious photographer who shoots nikon but this small, substantial camera is very good. It probably would not be up to par for fast action sports but I love the 18 to 55mm lens, sensor, software and operating modes, color, clarity and speed of processing taken images. This is the real deal. I did Update the firmware to modernize the focus of the lens for faster focus to version 2.02 and it is now every bit as functional as my non dslr nikon j1 which did not have the lens I wanted. I toss this in my motorcycle or suv and take it everywhere and use it to good advantage. Worth every penny. I got a $25 faux leather case to protect it, two extra batteries and a couple of 32 gb 90 mbs sdhc cards. I am well pleased and have a superb big nikon dslr and shoot a lot. This is one of the best kept secrets around.

Nice Value Lens Cap Retainers
I purchased these as spares for DSLR equipment and as a retainer for the ocular lens cap on a new set of Nikon Monarch 5 binoculars. They fit the bill perfectly. I wasn't expecting much from the bonus lens cloth but it turned out to be very well made, thick and soft. It's always good to be surprised with higher quality than one expects!

great entry level dslr!
took forever to buy my first dslr. after looking at 3 models the nikon d60, rebel xsi, and canon 40d. even bought the xsi first then the nikon d60 (which I returned right after a day of trying it). over-all the rebel xsi for me is the best camera that fits my budget. amazon even price adjusted 3x till it came down to $699! what a deal if you're thinking of buying ur first digital dslr i would strongly suggest this camera why pay the same amount for the new rebel xs? when the xsi has a lot more to offer. the feature that i like most about it are the dedicated buttons for ISO, metering, AF and alot more aside from the live-view. I would like the 40d since its ISO goes down to 3200. but it was a bit bulkier and heavier for me being a woman :). one thing i can say about it for me its simply PERFECT :).

This is all you need in a DSLR
First thing to get out of the way is that if you need a DSLR mainly for photography (not videography) then you can't go wrong with this one. The thing that will make any difference in your photos/results is NOT the camera body; its your skills/vision/compositions AND the lenses you have. Save money on body, buy this cheaper unit and use your saving to buy a second lens (the 50mm f1.8 is a MUST HAVE).Now onto why i really like this camera:1. Obviously the price! Espacially when paying more does not get you much more. This is espacially true for people who are looking for their first DSLR. These camera and their accessories WILL get expensive. As i said, the camera body is where you can cut some corners without impacting your end-results much. Buying it during holidays saves you more with deals and packages floating around.2. Battery life: My first DSLR was a Rebel XSi. It was very good but the best part was battery life - outstanding! Later i upgraded to T1i and sold my XSi. The T1i offers higher resolution LCD screen BUT that also causes the battery to drain much faster. This T3 is infact sort of a clone of XSi - same resolution, same kind of LCD and yes, same great battery life!3. Light weight: Its also very light and won't cause any trouble even after a whole day of shooting/wearing this on your neck. If you pair it with a light-weight prime lens like 50mm 1.8 or 35mm 2.0 (i would highly recommend both) - the whole package becomes a light-weight amazing photos machine.4. Easy to use: Perfect for beginners and offers much room to grow/get serious with your stuff. If you are coming from a point-and-shoot, it can act like one where you don't have to worry about any settings at all. This is my 2nd body along with my T1i - notice that i did not call it a "backup camera" - it is infact one of my primary camera. I grab either one depending on which one has the lens mounted that i need at the moment.Final note: I was a Canon-guy and Canon was first to bring the affordable DSLR to market so i went with their product. If you are just starting, it might be worth looking at Nikon D3100 as i've heard that is a better entry-level camera. But if you already have a collection of Canon lenses (or like them more), this is your camera.

Picture quality
It seems like it will be very good. It is a replacement for a nikon s6800 that got a lens error and I could not fix it

FD series adapter ring installation and operation steps.
A

There are two types of FD mounts
FD/FL Breech-Mount (with a silver ring, you need to rotate the silver ring when attachment and removal), breech-lock mounts are identified by the silver ring
New-FD Bayonet Mount, bayonet mounts are identified by a red dot next to the lens release button

Here are the steps to install breech-mount version

  1. Set your lens to smallest except for auto(bayonet mount only)
  2. Rotating the Lock-Open ring of the adapter on the OPEN side
  3. Line up the red dot with your lens and adapter ring(if yours is bayonet mount, just turn the adapter ring towards clockwise direction to make lens and adapter tight, then ignore the 4th step)
  4. Turn your lens ring towards counterclockwise direction to make the adapter ring tight with your lens
  5. Rotating the Lock-Open ring of the adapter on the LOCK side to engage the aperture closing pin

Operating the adapter

  1. If you'd like to operate the lens aperture with the adapter; on your lens, set the aperture to the smallest opening and use the adapter ring
  2. If you'd like to operate the lens aperture with the lens; place the adapter ring on the small aperture(Lock place) and control the aperture on the lens
