All the important features that I enjoyed in Fenix 5x but at half the price, a smaller and lighter size, and with solar! After a week of wear, it appears to have about twice the battery life as my Fenix 5x did. I'm betting that will improve. Not a lot of sun in March in my neighborhood, and the cold requires long sleeves that often drape over the watch. But even without a lot of help from solar, I'm very much happy with this purchase. GPS is very accurate. Easy to navigate. And for the first time, I'll have a watch that can track an entire ultramarathon even if it rains.

I love my Garmin Instinct Solar. The orchid color is beautiful and makes the watch very feminine even though it is a bulkier watch. I love how you can customize the face and I love using it for workouts. This is my second Garmin watch, and I will never use another brand.

I like that it's light-weight and easy to read the screen. It includes a battery and case. The case has a nice magnetic clasp instead of noisy velcro. It's also quick to display distance in meters or yards.

The head feels sturdy, and well built. There is no looseness to the fittings and the tightening of the knobs works as you would expect from a very good head. I cannot speak to the durability yet. A point that should have been made clear: the base does not fit a Canon 5D body, with the plate provided. It took me a little bit of head scratching until I concluded that I should have to purchase a separate plate that is longer than the one supplied as the Canon body jams in the bracket preventing it from tightening. This is not a problem with longer lenses that are equipped with a tripod ring, but if you plan to shoot shorter primes, you might run into this issue with normal SLR bodies--at least that is the case with the 5Dsr. The plate supplied is 8.5 cm and it is just too short. I ordered a 10cm one which I expect should do the trick. Apart from that, the head feel like it is very well constructed. It is my first gimbal head. I will not be able to fit by other cameras (Mamiya and Linhof 6X17) so I will also bring a location ball head with me to alternate. This is not a problem with just this head but seem to be a gimbal issue in general.
