Works Great
I bought this to work with the Moondog 12.5mm anamorphic lens and it works great. I’ve tested it in blazing sunlight with no clouds, which was the brightest possible outdoors condition attainable. The filter was able to be dark enough for proper exposure at a fixed shutter speed of 1/48 for 24fps.

Best 2x TC I came across so far, but don't expect
I use this extender with my 70-200/2.8, 300, 400, and 500mm tele lenses for wildlife shooting (hobby). My cameras: 7D, now upgraded to a 7D II, and a 5D III. Important in particular for 2x TC users: both latter cameras still provide an active center field autofocus with lens+TC combos that have an F/8 initial aperture. In particular every birder knows: you can't get enough focal length. And if you don't want to invest in - and carry - a super huge & heavy 800mm lens, you have to have TC's in your backpack. I use Canon's very good 1.4x MK III TC frequently, and less frequently this 2x TC. Many reviewer's here explained already the 2x TC's technical pros and cons in detail. In real life, according to my experience, you can break it down to those three items that really count:(1) images lose visibly sharpness and get softer, in particular in the edges (full frame) but with re-sharpening during post-processing (or sharper pre-settings in your camera) you can get acceptably good results (= you still can see feather/fur textures) IF...(2)... there is enough light available (!!) for a - with many lenses - quite slow combo AND...(3)... the object does not move too fast and unpredictable, because AF will work as sluggish as an old digital compact camera (but accurate with a carefully micro adjusted camera). This may also be important for you:- Oh no, you can't combine Canon's Mark III 1.4x with 2x TC's to shoot man's first footsteps on Moon from Earth. Canon prevented this mechanically, not only by some sort of pins (you could easily remove): the whole TC's do fit because their lens systems extend from their bodies and would collide before their bayonets snap together. Don't complain, be sure that the image quality of such combos would be too lousy anyway for modern high res sensors. If you need extreme focal lengths check if digiscoping (mostly without AF) would be the better solution for you.- Some lenses do not fit with Canon's Mark III TC's because, again, their extended lens systems would literally collide with the back lenses too close to the bayonet. The example in Canon's lens line that I presume is most prone to such a disappointment is the macro lens EF 100mm/2.8 L IS USM. So check the TC's compatibility with the lenses you want to use it with before you hit the order button. Btw you can pimp your macro's magnification by using extension tubes, plenty of good ones with full electronic supply of AF and aperture are available.Final word(s):Given the fact that a 2x TC is always a quite extreme optical compromise, the Canon engineers did a decent job with the Mk III version. But do not expect any wonders. An EF 400/5.6 lens will always be much sharper at 400mm - and focus much quicker - than a 70-200/2.8 II + 2x TC III combo, I can tell from my own experience. Those who just start with the TC business, I'd highly recommend to go first for Canon's 1.4x TC Mk III. It provides less reach but much better optical and AF performance. In practice you can use it much more frequently and get good results.

Perfect for the "Film Look". At a reasonable price
Purchased this for a new anamorphic lens and it's a fantastic buy. Absolutely no color shift, and blooms the highlights subtly. I would suggest the 1/8 strength unless you are going for a full on dreamy look. Tiffen has always made quality filters. This Black Pro Mist is no different. I highly recommend it.

Some people get all caught up in equipment when An
I have owned this lens for a few years and can tell you it's just awesome. Sometimes I use a 2x extender and can really get out there! You do lose 2 stops of light using a 2x extender, so you need to have some light in the shot to start with. Because if you start with 2.8, you end up with a minimum of 5.6. Not bad here, but if you start with a f5.6, you end up with a f11. That is huge, but we are talking about a 400mm lens (with the 2x extender). I have this version that has the IS, but rarely use it. It does use up camera battery. One thing many people (even those who know a lot about their gear) is that there is a "distance" setting that actually makes focusing faster. It is the little switch that is labeled 1.2mm-00 (infinity) and 2.5mm-00 (infinity). If you are focusing on a subject close to you, then set the lens to 1.2mm. This tells the lens not to try to focus on things beyond that, it can focus out there but it sort of cuts the time in half to only rack through the short range of the lens. Same for the 2.5-00 (infinity) only on the far end of the focal range. This lens also has 2 stabilzer settings (Mode 1 and 2). If all you need to stabilize is horizontal, the set to 2. If you want to stabilize both vertical shake and horizontal shake, the set mode to 1.There is a v2 of this lens. It is even better than this original. I have both and they are both awesome. The v2 is better, but this original version is amazing. If you do not have either, then let your budget decide. Both will serve you well. When I bring images into Lightroom, I need to look at the camera/lens settings to see which lens I used. So in reality the v2 is an upgrade. In use however, you gotta be a really good equipment buff to notice the difference. Some people get all caught up in equipment when Ansel Adams recorded images with not much more than a box with a hole in it!I write reviews because I want to help other people make decisions. I do not write reviews of items that I have personally not used.If this helped you, PLEASE click on the YES button below "was this review helpful". Thank you.

great for most birding
I mainly bought this lens for the 2x extender. Being old, 84, and senile, I thought, "Why, I'll just put that 2x on my Canon 300mm and I will have a 600mm lens, great for most birding. I wanted the converter more than the lens. As soon as I opened the box, i realized I was thinking incorrectly. The 2x does not fit my 300 EF Cannon Lens. But I still wanted the extender. The 2x extender for the Canon is expensive but does not work well withEF extenders from reports here at Amazon. It is designed for you guys with $11,000.00 pro lenses.I called Mike's knowing from reports here that I would get answers to my questions and good service. Eli, whose parents migrated here some time back from Syria because of the persecution of the Jews, live in Brooklyn, answered my questions. He first went over the procedures for using the new 500X lens and 2X extender. I asked him if there was a 2X extender for my 300mm EF lens that actually works. He had one in stock which is supposed to autofocus. I had him send that to me along with another memory card and some filters.I have not tried the new lens but I will perhaps this afternoon. It is manual and I don't expect to be able to use Autofocus. I don't plan to use the 2X extender in my first test but I will see how the 500X does with a bunch of Eagles that spend the winter in a tree here, living on fish scraps from the local fish processing plants. The 500mm lens is well designed and has a mount for a tripod which is advised, especially if I use the extender. You can look at my present camera birding results at [...] I have a number of cameras as you will see.I'll let you know as soon as I check this lens out. I will tell you how the 2x works with the 300mm Canon EF when that gets here next week. I'll tell you how the 2x extender that comes with the 500mm lens works out using a tripod.John T. Anamorphic Lens is Great!
The pictures and video you can get out of the drone with the anamorphic are pretty incredible. The other thing that’s nice is that the lens flares aren’t so intense as to be distracting. Everything looks quite professional. With the ND filters, you can also get very long exposure shots, even in a fairly bright environment.

Perfect Compliment to 135L
I am using this 2X extender with my 135L, and I must say that after a little micro adjustment of +5, this is incredible! I now have a 270mm f/4 lens, and the images are very, very nice. Wide open (f/4), there is a little softness or dreamy effect, but stopped down to f/5.6, images are extremely sharp and contrasty. Yes, this will enhance any flaw in your lens, but with higher quality lenses, should not be much of an issue. AF is fast, I have not had any problems with its speed or accuracy. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this extender.

Q
Will this frame fit onto a 100 mm objective lens on a celestron 25 x 100 binoculars? actual od is about 105 mm. the intended use is full moon view.
A
The od size is 100mm, the set comes with multiple different sizes to fit many different lens. You do not need long exposures for good moon detail, 500 sec at f8 works good on full moon
Q
Can it work for live streaming with this camera?
A
I believe so, however, I have not set mine up yet, so I can't say for sure.
Q
Could not make the CPL tight on lens
A
A polarizer is actually two pieces of glass set in a filter ring that screws onto your lens. The outer piece rotates, and as you look through the viewfinder you'll see the effect of the rotation. so when attach it to lens please make sure you rotate with the inner gear-shaped ring instead of outer piece, or it will rotate for 360
Q
Why camera indicated “lens is not properly installed”?
A

If your camera indicated "lens is not properly installed", please modify the camera menu settings. Usually called the "release the shutter the lens is not installed", you can modify the settings to allow. Specifically refer to the camera manual.Following are some examples:

  1. MFT(M4/3 mount camera)'Lens Not Found' - Warning Message Appears
    For Panasonic Lumix:
The camera needs to be set to function without a MFT-Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:
    'Menu' -> 'Custom Menu 5' -> 'Shoot W/O Lens' -> 'On'
(Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model)
  2. Fujifilm X mount camera, The camera needs to be set to function without a GFX-Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:
'MENU' -> 'SETUP' -> 'BUTTON/DIAL SETTING' -> 'SHOOT WITHOUT LENS' -> 'ON' (Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model) Choose ON to enable the shutter release when no lens is attached.
  3. Sony E mount camera, 'No Lens Attached' - Warning Message Appears
The camera needs to be set to function without a E-Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:'Menu' -> 'Setup' -> 'Release w/o Lens' -> 'Enable'
(Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model)
  4. Nikon 1-Series mirrorless camera , 'Check lens. Pictures can only be taken when a lens is attached' - Warning Message Appears
With a Nikon 1-Series camera (such as the J2), you will need to make sure the camera is in 'Manual' exposure or shooting mode and the focus selection is also set to manual. When in any other mode the camera tries to take control of the lens which is not possible as the adapter does not have any contact with the camera circuitry, so you get the lens check warning as the camera does not think there is a lens attached.
  5. 'EOS M mirrorless camera ,'No Lens Attached' - Warning Message Appears
The camera needs to be set to function without a EF-M Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:
'Menu' -> 'Custom Menu' -> 'Custom Function 7' -> Select 'Release shutter w/o lens'
(Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model)
  6. Konica Minolta:
For Konica Minolta and "No Lens Attached"
    Custom Menu 3
    First item "Shutter Lock"
Set it to "Off: no lens"
(Depending on camera model "Shutter Lock" May be in different menu location)
  7. 'Samsung NX 'No lens.' - Warning Message Appears
The adapter is designed to trigger a sensor inside the camera body itself so no setting needs to be changed. If the error message is coming up with one of our adapters attached, then it is possible that the adapter is not hitting that sensor the way that it should. Usually rotating the adapter slightly in the mount, or un-mounting and remounting the adapter clears the problem with no further action needed. If that doesn't solve the problem, then the best course of action would be to swap out the adapter you have with a replacement.

Q
Can this work with Sony a6400?
A
Hi, what's your lens size ,this square filter set with 8 adapter rings can fit lens size from 49mm to 82mm, if your lens in this range , it would be ok, thanks.
