Good long lens if you're willing to go completely
I'm old enough to have used manual slr's back in the day, so this doesn't bother me. I was very impressed with Big Mike's Elkectronics excellent instructions that came with the lens. Much better printed support than you usually receive from a seller. It is a slower lens with a smaller objective lens than the much more expensive choices.

So you get an excellent monocular for distant view
Compact, powerful and Leica quality. The extra add on magnifying lens is really handy. It can read the smallest engraving on the smallest coin.So you get an excellent monocular for distant viewing like sporting events, bird watching, etc and a super magnifying lens to pick out the smallest detail on anything.

Worth the price?
Say what you will about the Leica price premium but this is an amazing little monocular. I've been using it for about 6 months now and don't know how I ever lived without it. I'm a photographer and this fits nicely in my camera bag, to be used for spotting animals and people to approach and photograph. I also take it with me on extended mountain treks, where it is incredibly useful. The close-up lens is nice to have, but I find myself using it only infrequently, mostly because the case, where it is stored, is so bulky I tend to leave it home. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 due to the bulkiness of the case, which doesn't fit the lanyard, and factoring in price/value.But why the Leica? Because of the clarity and brightness of the image and the durability and build of the product. It's survived 4 foot falls onto dirt without damage. It's been inundated with rain and snow. I've let everybody and their uncle use the thing and it's still like new. The initial stiffness in the focus ring has loosened up. It's possible to shoot through the monocular using my Sony RX100M3 camera, or any smaller point-and-shoot. Just put the zoom on full and focus on infinity, then place the monocular over the lens. The results aren't spectacular, but it'll do as a long telephoto in a pinch.I look forward to decades of use of this investment, and eventually I'll pass it on to one of my kids.

Wonderful camera!
For someone who is used to a non-digital SLR, you will feel right at home with this one. All the same functions are there, just shown on a menu to select electronically, instead of with manual adjustments. You can use this as a point-and-shoot digital, or you can play to your heart's content. The lens is great, and you can add a telephoto lens if you want. It will take some learning for someone whose only experience is with a digital, but is a good choice for someone who wants to convert to digital from manual without losing all the versatility of the SLR camera.

Objective Lens Cover Problem Solved!
For those looking for a front objective lens cover (which Leica should have provided!!!), the Leupold 20mm cover doesn't work. However, the Butler Creek 02 Eye Flip Open Scope Cover works excellently (1.225"). Try a couple different size rubberbands over the objective lens barrel to give it a snug fit and it won't budge, is watertight, and the rubberband can't be seen. Also it doesn't interfere with the focusing ring.

Nice adapter
I purchased a Canon FD to Leica M adapter in order to get some more use out of my 17mm Canon lens. I’m pretty impressed with it so far. It seems considerably better quality than the cheap imported adapters, and not as expensive as a Novoflex. The lens hooks up solid and it feels solid on the camera body. I will most likely try some of their other adapters as necessary.

L Series...the flagship of the Canon lenses!
I have had a Canon digital SLR for several years, but have never owned an L series lens until now. I never thought I would drop this much $$$ on a lens, but it became pretty much a necessity in order to shoot all of my kids' sports activities especially gymnastics where I needed a fast telphoto zoom lens because all the events are inside and there is no flash photography allowed! I considered the non IS version, but my experience with other Canon IS lenses moved me to make this choice. So far I haven't been disappointed in any way. The lens is very solidly constructed. The IS and USM work great, and the zoom is very smoooth. All of the images I have shot with this lens are sharp throughout the zoom range. The bottom line...this is an awesome lens though it is a bit pricey for non professional photographers. The upside is that these lenses retain their value well when properly cared for as can be attested to on Ebay.

Great little travel item.
I used to travel with an SLR. Heavy, lots of stuff, but amazing pictures... I've backed away from that and was just carrying my iphone. Much less trouble, but the pictures really suffered. This lens is a nice little compromise. I really like the wide angle capability. I was able to get a few shots that only a fisheye would have given me with the SLR. So that was fun. Quality for the price was a surprise. As with any wide angle lens, you will get distortion as you move away from the center of the image. This does that too, but not as badly as I expected. (again, bang for the buck). It clipped fine onto my iphone 6s with a case.If you're looking for professional wide angle lens quality, this isn't it. If you want to capture a moment and not have to lug around the bigger camera, this is great.

What image sensor cleaning kit works best for nikon d7100? any idea? thanks.
A
I believe this kit works with most SLR Camera's. I have a Nikon D7000 and it worked perfectly fine. Just make sure that you follow your camera's instructions on this and lock your mirror up.
Q
Why camera indicated “lens is not properly installed”?
A

If your camera indicated "lens is not properly installed", please modify the camera menu settings. Usually called the "release the shutter the lens is not installed", you can modify the settings to allow. Specifically refer to the camera manual.Following are some examples:

  1. MFT(M4/3 mount camera)'Lens Not Found' - Warning Message Appears
    For Panasonic Lumix:
The camera needs to be set to function without a MFT-Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:
    'Menu' -> 'Custom Menu 5' -> 'Shoot W/O Lens' -> 'On'
(Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model)
  2. Fujifilm X mount camera, The camera needs to be set to function without a GFX-Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:
'MENU' -> 'SETUP' -> 'BUTTON/DIAL SETTING' -> 'SHOOT WITHOUT LENS' -> 'ON' (Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model) Choose ON to enable the shutter release when no lens is attached.
  3. Sony E mount camera, 'No Lens Attached' - Warning Message Appears
The camera needs to be set to function without a E-Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:'Menu' -> 'Setup' -> 'Release w/o Lens' -> 'Enable'
(Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model)
  4. Nikon 1-Series mirrorless camera , 'Check lens. Pictures can only be taken when a lens is attached' - Warning Message Appears
With a Nikon 1-Series camera (such as the J2), you will need to make sure the camera is in 'Manual' exposure or shooting mode and the focus selection is also set to manual. When in any other mode the camera tries to take control of the lens which is not possible as the adapter does not have any contact with the camera circuitry, so you get the lens check warning as the camera does not think there is a lens attached.
  5. 'EOS M mirrorless camera ,'No Lens Attached' - Warning Message Appears
The camera needs to be set to function without a EF-M Mount lens attached. You can do this by changing the following camera setting:
'Menu' -> 'Custom Menu' -> 'Custom Function 7' -> Select 'Release shutter w/o lens'
(Exact naming and location of this option may change depending on camera model)
  6. Konica Minolta:
For Konica Minolta and "No Lens Attached"
    Custom Menu 3
    First item "Shutter Lock"
Set it to "Off: no lens"
(Depending on camera model "Shutter Lock" May be in different menu location)
  7. 'Samsung NX 'No lens.' - Warning Message Appears
The adapter is designed to trigger a sensor inside the camera body itself so no setting needs to be changed. If the error message is coming up with one of our adapters attached, then it is possible that the adapter is not hitting that sensor the way that it should. Usually rotating the adapter slightly in the mount, or un-mounting and remounting the adapter clears the problem with no further action needed. If that doesn't solve the problem, then the best course of action would be to swap out the adapter you have with a replacement.
