If you want to use your old FD lenses, this is one of the best choices. All you need is an adapter ring "Fotasy Canon FD FL Lens to Canon EOS M". The pictures turn out great, you just have to get used to the manual adjustment but there is an automatic ISO adjustment to help, if you want.

Initially I wanted the official canon adapter, however these were out of stock with no date for restocking so I bought this instead. Although I can’t compare this generic item to the branded Canon adapter, I have to say that so far I have been really impressed with what it does. All my EF lenses (Canon 100-400l mk2, Canon 100 macro, Sigma 150-600, Sigma 150 macro) work perfectly with all functions operating as I would expect. At at least half the price of the Canon adapter, I have no hesitation in recommending this item.

Extremely pleased with this lens for video and photos. I am using a Canon RP so I have to use an adapter but I am having no issues at all.

This device should receive some kind of industry design award. It channels the builtin flash light to an even ring of LEDs for close up purpose. Must have if you plan to take a lot of macro close up photos. All the instructions listed in amazon assumes you know how to remove the lens mount on the camera so it was never mentioned. The full instruction to mount the Macro ring is as follow:1. Take your camera, put both of your thumbs on the two side of the lens mount (the ring that has a red dot on it).2. Turn counter-clockwise 1/4 turn until you feel the mount is released.3. Remove the lens mount.4. Position the macro ring on the lens by aligning the white dot on the micro ring to the white dot (7 o'clock position) on the lens. Turn clockwise until the macro ring intake cover the flash.5. Switch on your camera and turn the dial to the macro mode.6. Press down arrow on the OK dial and go to flash setting. Select the LED on setting.7. I have tried two different macro lens and this is the best by far

I bought this product to use in macro photography. I am using the Tamron 180mm lens with a 2x adapter. As such without a flash, it would be very difficult handheld. I found in the past that the small flash alone caused specular highlights on the insects, however, with this product attached to the flash the light source is that much bigger and the lighting is much smoother. I am sure there are better more expensive options but this works well for my needs and I am happy with the results.
