Some documented bugs on first release, but quickly

UPDATE 11/25/2020 - The bug I singled out in my original review (watch waking on its own) has been fixed by Mobvoi's recent update. I have reset the watch, let it do all of its watch and app updates, and I am pleased to say that the Ticwatch Pro 3 is a very solid watch now. After using it for one day, I am very pleased with this latest model from Mobvoi! Coupled with Google's latest update to Wear OS and Google Fit, owning a Wear OS/Google/Android watch has never been better. For the last 9 hours, I have installed updates, set up the watch, played around with it, then did a 20 min boxing session (Google Fit workout), followed by a 90 minute weightlifting session (another Google Fit workout), and after 9 hours the watch is down to 86%. Crazy?! This is the best battery life I have seen from a Wear OS device! Why four stars? Well I am still a tad bitter the watch had bugs that took almost two months to address. Maybe some better internal testing? The bug I experienced isn't the only one. Just visit Mobvoi's customer support site and you'll see lots of threads and posts. But I really appreciate Mobvoi's responsiveness on their support site and their commitment to fixing the issues. With that said, I have one more gripe. Although I understand that Mobvoi is pushing their own health apps, we do have a choice of using Google Fit instead. I prefer it that way since I have been using Google Fit since my first Wear OS watch, the Moto 360. But here's the issue. If I want to use sleep tracking, which is a feature of this watch, I have to connect Mobvoi's TicHealth with Google Fit. And when you do so, it works great and transfers over sleep data to Google Fit. But it also transfers all other data, which is where another "bug" exists. If you log a Google Fit workout, it will track HR, pace, time, etc. At the conclusion of the workout, you will have avg hr and an estimated calories (e.g. 30 min boxing workout, 126 avg bpm, 400 calories). The bug is that when TicHealth is sharing data with Google Fit, it sends over step data that overlaps Google Fit data, and it ends up changing Google Fit's workout calories. So that 30 min boxing workout ends up changing to 60 calories. The fix is to not allow the TicHealth app to share data with Google Fit (you set this in the Mobvoi phone app settings, not on the watch). But by doing so, you lose out on TicSleep data on the watch being shared with Google Fit. I guess you can't win them all. I wish either they allowed you to choose what health data you want to share with Google Fit, or to fix this issue and not change calories for workouts in Google Fit (this would probably require work with Google to come up with rules on data overlap).I know this might seem like a real nitpicky thing, but it's important to me. And I'm not the only one that has experienced this. I actually had no idea why my calories were changing later in the day for my workouts. I found a forum or reddit thread where someone mentioned the TicHealth phone app link and got the solution. So if this is ever addressed, and the watch continues to perform well, maybe I'll update this review to 5 stars. In conclusion, this is definitely one of the best Wear OS watches released. I would choose the Ticwatch Pro 3 over any Fossil watch, and would never pay more than $300 for one of those luxury brands (e.g. Montblanc), which have subpar technology to Mobvoi's Ticwatch Pro 3.ORIGINAL REVIEW****************************I've been so excited for the Ticwatch Pro 3, mostly due to the fact that it's Mobvoi's first watch with anything other than the Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, which is so many years old. I've owned many Wear OS watches over the years (original Moto 360, Moto 360 Sport. LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, Nixon Mission, Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro 4G). I'm an Android user (my wife uses and iPhone and Apple Watch), so I've watched with envy as the Apple Watch came late to the game and quickly improved it's hardware and software, doing laps around Wear OS due to lack of substantial software updates from Google and hardware upgrades from Qualcomm. Luckily Mobvoi, Fossil and some luxury brands, have continued to provide options for the Android community.I finally received the Ticwatch Pro 3, and it looks great. It's slightly thinner than the previous Pro's, and lighter as well but with a bigger battery. So far, so good. I set up my watch like I always do, using the Wear OS phone app. Everything went smoothly. I still have my Ticwatch Pro 4G, so I can compare the two side by side. I have some settings I prefer to set, so I set those right away (Always on Display Off, Tilt to Wake off, Touch to Wake ON).Here is where things go south, and I don't think this is a setting issue. I have no idea what's going on. The watch wakes on it's own without even a movement. My 4G doesn't do this. I tried doing a complete erase and reset and it still does it. I fear that I will have to return it because this must be a defect in the watch itself. I will try to upload a video so everyone can see if they have the same problem. I think I narrowed it down to having Touch to Wake ON. If I turn that OFF, it stops waking on it's own. Obviously this is not a good solution since many will want Touch to Wake ON.Again, I have loved Mobvoi and Wear OS for many years, but I think I made a mistake jumping on the Ticwatch Pro 3 so quickly. Hopefully bugs like this will be addressed soon, but looks like I will need to stick with my Ticwatch Pro 4G a little while longer.
