Pruduct Lives Up to Specs!
Low light loss & distortion on my Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 zoom. It was worth not getting an "el cheapo" filter!

Excellent!
Original Canon's nifty-fifty was already very good optically (I used to have both Mk I and Mk II of the 50mm f1.8 EF), but mechanical and AF shortcomings forced me to sell the lenses when I got a fast standard zoom (Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 OS) for my APS-C sensor camera, as pretty much redundant. Not so with the newest re-incarnation of the lens, the STM version. Apparently optically the same, it incorporated the lacking features - faster and more accurate autofocus, better OOF rendering (thanks to more aperture leaves, with rounded shape), and metal bayonet.Given the very low price (got it for 130$ CAD on sale at amazon.ca), size and weight, this lens would be a very welcome addition both to the beginner's kit (in addition to the kit zoom; great as a portrait lens with shallow DoF), and to a prosumer's kit who already has fast f2.8 zooms (very sharp when stepped down to ~f8, from the center to extreme corners - significantly sharper than my Sigma fast zoom in the corners; makes it great for large group portraits, studio full height portraits, landscape and architecture). It is very sharp center to corners even at its closest focusing distance (corresponds to magnification 0.2:1).You should also get a lens hood ES-68 - strictly speaking not necessary for photos, but serves as an extra protection for the lens. No need to get the expensive brand-named hood, the one I got from ebay for 2.30$ CAD with free shipping works perfectly fine.

this is NOT the best 50mm prime you can get
Let's be clear, this is NOT the best 50mm prime you can get. It's not even great in comparison to them. Arguably, that crown sits atop the new Sigma 50mm F/1.4 Art. Having used the sigma a bit (admittedly, not a lot), it's at least 200% better. Maybe 300% or more, but you'd have to be really adamant about some of the particulars. Make no bones, the Sigma is a tremendous lens. The thing is, it's also an absolute STEAL compared to the former champion, the Canon 50mm 1.2L, $400 more expensive at $1350. If you're following the math, I'm saying this lens is possibly 1/3 as good as a lens that costs nearly 8 times as much, and is already a bargain at that price. There's a reason it's the best selling lens on the market, for any camera system.Yes, your kit lens has 50mm in its range. But F/1.8 opens a whole new world of artistic expression for the beginning or intermediate photographer over the F/5 or F/5.6 that lens opens to at 50mm, and for the price, you'd be insane not to go for it if that even interests you in the slightest. And if $125 is too much to ask for your budget especially if you're a student, get a body $125 cheaper to make room for this lens.

Well made product
Bought this strap to use with my Nikon D5300 and Sigma 150 - 600 lens which is too big and heavy for a standard neck strap. The strap handles it a treat and makes walking distances a lot more bearable. Highly recommended.

although I can tell you this lens takes crisp clea
New to 50mm lens game. I have been using a sigma 10-20mm since I started shooting photos around 3 months ago. I haven't personally compared any other 50mm lenses to this canon stm1.8.....although I can tell you this lens takes crisp clean photos While allowing you to throw whatever style your trying to achieve look great.I'm Having a blast with the lens. Shout out to canon for making afordable quality.

A
hello if your nikon camera is af mount, yes, you could make the sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 ex dg apo hsm large aperture macro zoom lens work with canon with this adoptor
Q
Will this work with the pentax mount asahi takumar smc 50mm 1.4?
A
Yes. I have the same lens and adaptor on my Sony a7ll and it works beautifully. The m42 is also known as the 'universal' mount as other 3rd party camera and lenses also used it. I own 6 other K&F e-mount adaptors to different lens makers (ltm, MD, CF/CD, Nikon) and they all are well built with a nice snug fit. Highly recommended.
Q
Hello, i have a nikon 50mm af-s 1.1.8g lens. is this compatable?
A
I don't have that lens with me. On the inside of its lenscap and on the ID on the lens, there should be the size of filter needed. If it requires a 58 then you are fine. There are also adapters to go up or down.
