A Worthy upgrade and more than suitable for 95% of
I had the previous model some while ago and always liked it for its price/value ratio. I have owned bigger Canon glass, notably the 70-300L and the 100-400L. Great glass to shoot, horrible to tote around. And the cost of it sitting on my shelf...This is a very good lens. The images are mostly sharp (aided with a bit of post production). The new IS is effective. The new nano AF is blisteringly fast and absolutely silent. The LCD lens guide is novel but not too useful. The range index is already on the zoom ring. This does convert the EF full frame to its equivalent EFS crop equivalent, which is handy if you can't multiply by 1.6. The shake feature is a just toy. Shame on Canon for not including a lens hood. You can get one here for less than $10 vs the "real" Canon for $45. Its just plastic. This new 70-300 is a worthy upgrade from the original, and just enough of the good stuff to compete with the Ls without the cost and weight. I am just a hobby shooter - if somebody was paying me for my pics I would have the new 100-400 II. Those took great pictures. This takes very very good pics that are more than enough for an amateur shooter.I shoot a Canon 7D with a 24-105L main lens, and switch between a Canon 60mm Macro USM (great!) and a Sigma ex 30mm 1.4 (my artsy lens- great DOF and bokeh).Spend your money without remorse. Highly recommended!

Works very well
I use it with my 15mm fisheye f2.8 (mostly), but also with my 50mm f1.4. I did try 24-70mm and also 70-200mm and its good also, but the look of the gear was weird and funny. But the lenses worked very well :)

Its polarizing! =)
I picked up the 82mm for my 24-70 2.8 and I got used to it and loved it. When I went to use my 70-200 2.8 without this VND for a surf shoot, I almost got sad at how different and negative the affect of not having this filter was. So here we are picking up my second and it's a great investment in a quality product that produces amazing photos!

WOW, little bag with a big stomach!
I have a lowerpro backpack for my camera stuff which does it’s job well. With my new budddy— the Nikon z6 I began to feel the need to downsize. Normally I only carry two lenses: 24-70 and 70-200/f2.8, sometimes with an extra flash and I was concerned whether this little bag can hold them—-and it does! Thanks to it’s versatily I actually have a couple of ways to wrap them in there safely and comfortably! (The pictures show the 70-200/f2.8 with the 24-70/f4S lens, but simply Judging by the extra room left, it should have no problem holding the f2.8 version as well.It doesn’t completely replace my lowerpro it can hold 3-5 lenses and I will still use it for serious photography; but from now on this little one will be my go to bag. Thanks Nikon for making a smaller body, and thanks Amazon for providing this light weight, versatile, large and yet small bag to make my life easier![update 01/05/19: Here we go, I replaced 24-70/F4 with the 24-70/F2.8 beast, and it still fits, alongside with the 70-200!

Great Tripod, wish there was abit more adjustment
Does what it needs to do, it can also hold my Sony A7ii with a 24-70mm f2.8 GM lens. I am quite impressed it can hold the weight and still function as well as it can. Only wish is that if it could have a bit more adjustment flexibility with the angle of the legs, there are only 2 settings. All in all, still a great product and seems pretty sturdy when i went hiking and as well for night shots of the stars.
