Does this camera rotate? Meaning...am I able to spin it around horizontally and have it point at a meeting verses it pointing at myself?

Yes. You can manually rotate the camera to point away from you. It could do 360 degree however the USB cable gets in the way. but 180 degrees is easily done manually.

How's the sound quality? Would this camera be good for recording events a stuff?

Honestly, the built-in mic is the biggest weak point on the camera. However, the upside of this camera vs the rest made it easy for me to ignore this. The external mic they sell is only $10 and sounds way better than the built-in mic on any other camera and the Akaso is still way cheaper after paying extra for a mic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XDPMD3T

IT WILL WORK TO A POINT, JUST NO PIC'S WILL BE RECORDED. IF U WANT TO CAPTURE WHAT U R SHOOTING, U MUST HAVE A CHIP IN CAMERA..

Can they be used for star gazing?

I had to wait for a clear night. I tried all of my binoculars. NONE were suitable for star gazing. They magnified the dark sky. On a tripod you can see a speck of light.

Is the external microphone port compatible with any external microphone or only the sjcam external microphone?

SJ7 Star supports only officially external MIC because of software limitation
