Update: For your information, the issue has been fixed 1 year ago. All cameras are equipped with the latest firmware.

I don't see why not, remember that the filter goes on the lens, not on the camera.

Can they be used for star gazing?

I had to wait for a clear night. I tried all of my binoculars. NONE were suitable for star gazing. They magnified the dark sky. On a tripod you can see a speck of light.

Is the external microphone port compatible with any external microphone or only the sjcam external microphone?

SJ7 Star supports only officially external MIC because of software limitation
