Only issue is that the lens didn't get darker to block out out the sun

A very nice filter. So far I cannot complain. It does not seem to produce sun flares or any other noticable distortion like cheaper filters will.

I would not recommend it to a friend, I bought it to use it for taking shots of the ocean against the rocks, well when I place it to Max it does not close the whole disc black but does a star shape so that in the picture the corners are blown out and it gives a lot of cross-polarization. I was told it is common when you buy variable density filters that are not fixed. I just bought and received the Image ND 2 4 6 replacement filter kit and worked much better for me for what I was trying to accomplish. updated - Oct 27th - I am told that to use this filter it is best used at a 90 degree angle of the sun, that is you place your sholder facing the sun then stick your arm out in front of you at that in 90 degrees to help with flare and cross-polarization.

Filter looks fine, however the Canon lens cap for the camcorder did not fit very well on the filter, so I will have to get another lens cap.

I use a uv filter to protect the lens, but sometimes you get glaring if pointed near the sun as expected as they all do unless its coated. Good lens.

I have been using this filter to protect my lens and it has done the job.

I bought this filter to use in bright sun light with flash without always having to use hss.

It's a great lens and a good value in the L lens category. Once you have an L lens it's hard to settle for less and this is no exception.
