Found this while looking for a few spare USB Flash drives. The read speed immediately caught my attention, but the product listing has nothing about the write speeds. Bit fishy. So went ahead and purchased it, then immediately ran a benchmark on it once it arrived. Read speeds are amazing, as advertised. Write speeds... not so much.What does this mean? This drive is great for people who want to put files on the drive once and repeatedly access them. It reaches the 400mb/s speeds it advertises. However, the write speed is a fairly abysmal 65mb/s. This means that if you wanted to fill the drive up, it would take about 33 minutes to copy everything (of course, speeds will vary based on computer config).So using this drive as a means of quick data transfer where it will be removed and rewritten often, it a bit of a waste of time. I'd spend a bit more and get one with a verified high write speed as well.However, if you intend to use this to put files on, such as music, pictures, or movies, and do not plan on changing out the contents often, it is a great deal.

I bought it boot into Ubuntu occasionally, it works for me.

This is a review about the Samsung FIT Plus USB 3.1 Flash Drive 128GB - (MUF-128AB/AM), look it up if it does not sound familiar as these reviews seem to get grouped in one large bundle.I was using name brand Thumb drives, Good drives but slow on the read. Notice that the manufacturers seem to put the Thumb drive speeds hidden in the messages if it is mentioned at all, and then you depend on someone to do a speed test and report it.SamSung puts the speed reading right there. Yes you are paying a bit more but you know you are getting a fast read.Why is this important? Let me tell you what I think.My movie collection is now digital. Mostly on hard drives. . I copied a movie to a name brand thumb drive that was supposed to be fast and still experienced a momentary stall action during play. It would be an unwanted flicker or very short stall as the movie plays.I had actually purchased the SamSung Fit Plus for installing an operating system on, and it ran great. So I checked the speed listed in the ad, Up to 300 MB/s for 256/128GB models; Up to 200 MB/s for 64/32GB models.I bought the 125 model thumb drive for the system. Knowing the drive was noted to read fast, I copied a movie over that had been showing those "stalls", and then played it. It ran as clean as if it were played from the DVD. A very nice improvement.I never had a problem with my music on the Popular brands so you can buy them pretty inexpensively with no fear of a sound problem.Now I do have a disclaimer: Being used as a system drive, it has little writing to the drive memory when in operation. It will have some when you save and or download. When you do this, the memory, just like with Solid State Drives, starts developing resistance to writes every time you write to the memory. Eventually, with enough resistance build up by writes over time, that drive will stop working. It takes years usually and the thumb drive will fail before that happens.READING from a thumb drive or Solid State drive, has no effect, it should be able to continue to read from the memory as long as the drive remains active, again years.If you use thumb drives for your movies, I now recommend this one as it is performing very well for me.I do not know the seller and he did not offer any discount or merchandise for my random review.200617 1902
