I have only used it for a few days. The touch screen appears to have one pixel burnt out on it which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. I used it skiing and on a road bike ride so far. It performed well in both environments. The video stabilization works great. The photos turned out great. The lighting is a little flat on low light cloudy days. The product is also durable. The bike mount I purchased in another kit broke on the first use while riding at 20mph. The camera survived the fall with minor scratches. Buy decent mounts instead of the cheap $20 includes everything kits. This is the kit with the faulty bike mount.

I finally felt confident enough in diving to add a camera to my kit this year. With only 2 buttons to mess with underwater, this camera worked great with waterpoof housing. Worked wonderfully at 30-90 feet. No problems. There are other fancier cameras for diving, but something simple that I didn't have to give too much attention to worked best for me.

I bought this on prime day with the package deal. The video quality is amazing from this little camera. I've had a blast mounting this on my traxxas rc cars and filming underwater at our local lake (i did buy a waterproof diving case for added protection). my one complaint is that when displaying videos on my 4k tv (55") is that when i record at 1440 for anything other then getting still shots the video quality is not a good as when i record at 1080p which is fine the camera is tiny theres only so much it can do perfectly. would highly recomend especialy for the price.

I also own a hero 4 silver and the improvements on the hero 5 are impressive; first of all the image quality both in video and photo are great, the sound quality on video has also improved a lot because you don't have to use the case all of the time like on the hero 4, the only drawback I see from the hero 5 is that almost none of the accesories from the previous model work on this one

Great camera with 4k potential in general. One of my favorite features is the setting that lets you long press to change between photos and video, with an even longer press for turning the camera. You will likely need to use this feature when using the camera in the waterproof housing. I keep it on all the time. It lets you use the camera without thinking if you do some planning in the settings before you start recording/shooting. I really like this camera, even though I feel guilty since it is an obvious ripoff of GoPro's work. However, they did manage to fix what GoPro did wrong when they did not listen to their customers, so there's that. Always, the camera only has a few knocks which I will point out, not worthy of a loosing a star imo:- The footage is a little "blurry" when using OIS (optical image stabilization is where software takes the footage and stabilizes it). It looks like there is some ghosting in images almost with this mode. I would only equip the setting when using the camera with shots that have a small amount of vibration. It will likely look a bit 'off' if you use it for more shaky shots. It just seems that the software cannot compensate for larger shakes and bumps. But, this can still be a useful tool. The feature also slightly crops your image in this mode for the software stabilization, so keep that in mind depending on what you are doing and how much field of view you need for your shot.- HDR (high dynamic range) could be a little better. To my limited knowledge, this means that blacks are slightly washed out and colors could be a bit more saturated.- Color saturation could be a bit better, going off the previous point.- It would be nice if we had an extra button to move between settings so that we could change settings when using the waterproof case.These are seriously small knocks when looking at this camera as a whole. I would recommend the camera right now. However, if you can wait until later this year, I would hold off and keep a look out for what the GoPro Hero 5 offers. Still without a doubt, this will be the cheaper camera and the better bang for your buck for the average consumer. Good luck everyone, happy shooting!

It being a GoPro you can expect quality from the device to start off. The size is very useful being compact that its not as noticeable when mounted in certain areas/on things. The image quality isn't as good as ots bigger brothers for sure but i couldn't say the same about similarly priced GoPro's or cheaper ones. That's not to say the quality of the picture and video is bad at all, just minor things that most people might not notice. Other than that, the lack of a screen to see what the camera is seeing can be a bit annoying at times as i'm not sure what i'm shooting looks good. There is an app that can show you what it sees but that's a bit of a hassle compared to a screen dedicated to that. Still even with those complaints i like the camera, it shoots good footage and does what i need it to do. That being said I don't think this camera is for everyone, but its still good!

Very good camera well built with high quality. I use this at work for my firefighting profession. I have it attached to my firefighting helmet and inside burning structures. I'm not saying its melting proof because nothing its but it is built to last

Upgraded from a Hero 3+ and the 5 black is a light year ahead in terms of video, audio and photo quality. There are a lot of settings to mess around with and the stabilization is fantastic!
