man...right of the box (right now) and uncharged the speaker once plugged up was ready....the volume is fantastic...i didn't rate the battery life because i haven't used it fully charged...no, didn't read the instructions so maybe i was supposed to charge fully first...anyway, using it with my ipad and the volume is perfect with two fans blowing in my office and it isn't even near it's highest...the footprint on my already crowded desk is perfect because its a good size and weighty enough to hold its own...perfect! :) will probably use it on the deck too...

This speaker is great. I used it for camping and it lasted for a long time and it sounds great and prity loud for such a small speaker.

This speaker worked for our purpose to take with us on travels. It is nice and small but has a good sound.
