Second pair now. Too heavy to carry all day but great for in the blind or similar permanent set up. more versatile than a spotting scope.

A quick background information, I bought a Celestron C90 spotting scope for plane spotting and some amateur astronomy. The scope came with an included tripod which was basically a waste of product because even breathing on it would case the scope to vibrate and oscillate so bad. I'm surprised it didn't trigger any Richter scales nearby. So, I bought an Amazon Basis tripod which helped in the stability side of things, but the head was so jerky that I would have to step back from the eyepiece, less I poke an eye out whenever I had to slew the scope, especially in the up/down directions. I debated on getting a Manfrotto 502 fluid head to replace the one that came with the Amazon one, but when I saw that the Geekoto had an extra 5 inches of height over the one I already had, I made the decision to invest in the Geekoto. Man, what a difference! The first time I mounted the scope and slewed it right and left, the movements were so smooth and precise I knew I made the right choice. And moving the scope up and down was just as smooth, so no more worry about losing an eye while acquiring a plane or planet. The legs look thin, but they are strong and sturdy. And I love the orange accents!

A quality piece if kit well made and easy to use. I live near the sea and use it for ship spotting. Saddo I know. Would recommend this scope to anyone.

Nice little scope, I use it quite a bit for spotting control points and securing line of sight as a land surveyor. The compact size is great for carrying in a vest and the optics are good. Good price, good scope.

I have been looking for a stong functional ball mount for my carbon tripod and 85mm spotting scope for over a year. I tried several but, due to the weight of my scope (approximately 65oz.),I just couldn't find one that was smooth and instantly locked in when I focused on 60 power at long ranges. I was either dropping the image out of the sight plane or way out of center scope. This was really frustrating to me in hunting situations. The Manfrotto 322RC2 fulfilled my needs to a "T". I can pan vertically, horizontally or diagonally and lock it in in an instant, the moment I release the squeeze grip. The tension is adjustable, so you can really get it down to a extremely smooth function. The real neat thing is that you can convert the base to the end and use the grip vertically. This is the easiest way to use it for spotting. I recommend this Joystick head to anyone using a spotter!

This item is worth the cost, i have attached it to a Celestron 52250 80mm spotting scope and tiled the scope 90 deg. without issue, though I would not go aove the specified weight limit. The tripod works as well as expected for the price, it doesn't have a smooth motion, but what would you expect for something at this price point. Excellent item for relativly low viewing and static shots, and the legs are firmly secured as you adjust, just don't expect to use this for smooth video pan or tilt.

Great for the price , holds my very heavy celestron 80 spotting scope quite well !
