Does exactly what I needed!
I bought this to convey digital audio signals from obsolete playback devices (specifically minidisc and DAT) to my digital audio workstation, without having to go through D/A and A/D conversion. It's actually pretty hard to find an audio interface with an optical SPDIF input. This little box - about the size of a deck of cards - works perfectly in Windows 10 without installing any drivers, and my DAW's can record from its optical input!One piece of advice: You'll need to open your sound control panel, click on the record tab, choose the spdif interface, click properties, then click advanced, and set the sample rate to the sample rate of your source device. This box only supports 44.1kHz and 48 kHz. It will not do 32kHz, which is sometimes found on both DAT's and minidiscs, when set to "long play" mode. If you try to record with the sample rate set incorrectly, you'll get spitting sounds and everything will be the wrong pitch.

OMG - BEST SOUND EVER!!!
This product produces awesome audio. I am not a gamer so I couldn't comment on its application in gaming. I use it to record audio from Zoom meetings. It took me some fiddling around with it, it wasn't just plug it in and you're good to go. But once you get everything set just right, it has incomparable sound quality.

Good product
Laptop audio port has been giving some issues, this was a quick easy fix. Notni also have the option of running a mic line to record guitar audio.
