Great device...but!
I record YouTube videos onto a green screen using the front-facing camera of my iPhone 7 Plus. Unless you’re within a foot or so of the mic and are directly in front of it, it’s really not too much different than the phone’s built-in. And since I can’t record my nostrils, I put the mic on a tripod and put it in front of me. Once you nail proximity, the mic is spectacular! It’s not a Rode or a Shure, but there is a notable difference over the built-in iP7p. NOTE: You HAVE to plug the mic into the dongle, then plug the dongle into the phone and make sure it’s fully plugged in (you’ll feel it). If you plug in the dongle first then plug in the mic, it probably won’t work. The light is super bright. Thank goodness it’s adjustable. If you make this your only light doing inside videos with no ambient lighting, you’re going to have hot spots on your face. NOTE: Make sure the switch is turned OFF before you install the batteries! If you install bats while the switch is on, the light won’t come on. Go figure. The tripod stand serves better as a selfie handle than a tripod, but it’s not bad enough to give it a negative review. It is sturdy and holds well.Four stars not because of functionality, but because most people would return it as non-functional if they didn’t know about the battery trick of the light and the dongle “trick” of the mic.
