It does what lens hoods do
I have a Canon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens. I needed a lens hood. So I bought the ES-68. Honestly, I don't know why lens manufacturers don't just ship lens hoods with all their lenses--but there you go.The hood is made of good quality material. It isn't felt-lined like some of their L-series lens hoods--but it doesn't seem any less effective for it. To connect it to the lens, I attach it, then rotate it 1/4 turn, and it snugly clicks into place. I shoot on a Canon 80D (cropped sensor), and I've never noticed any vignetting while using the lens hood. When I need to store my lens in my camera bag, I spin the hood around backwards, and attach it to the lens--so it takes up less space. If you've got the Canon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, I recommend getting this lens hood to help reduce glare and lens flares while out shooting.

Great quality, just beware that when the lens hood
Great quality, just beware that when the lens hood is on the 18-55mm lens at wide angle the hood clips in to the image. Very fast delivery, well happy.

Just buy it!
Seriously, if you own a Canon camera (DSLR or mirrorless, APS-C or full-frame) then you should definitely own this lens. In fact, it should probably be the first lens that is purchased after having a kit-lens that was provided with your camera body. Very sharp, light, and relatively small - a perfect lens to just leave on your camera most of the time! Any potential downsides (not the fastest aperture lens, plastic build) are wiped away by the low cost and very good image quality! Oh, it doesn't come with a lens hood and the Canon OEM hoods are ridiculously expensive. Just find a good third-party hood on Amazon for 1/5 of the cost of the Canon hood.

Fits 70-200mm 2.8 under the lens hood
This is crucial since the aftermarket brand I bought fit the lens but not under the lens hood. You would have to take the cap off to fit the hood on. And I'm not carrying around the hood off the lens. So this is the ONLY way for the 70-200mm 2.8 Sony.

Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Meets the expectations. But since I use it on 1.6 crop body camera, I have to buy extra lens hood due to un-usefulness of the original lens hood for 1.6 crop body camera.

Lens Hood Fits Securely
This lens hood or shade is well made and fits my Canon 50mm lens precisely and securely. I think it is a little expensive for what it is... a plastic shade... but this lens hood is well made and a genuine Canon product.

An Overall Good Kit
The disappointment was the petal hood. It is threaded though only outside and is not reversible. The locking ring which comes with the hood is useless as the hood needs to keep loose allowing the photographer to maintain hood alignment with the frame. Also, in the hood there are no inside threads which means you cannot use the lens cap. Cap use is debatable, but if you prefer using the cap, you will need to remove the petal hood.I did not buy this kit for the hood, it just seemed like a nice bonus. I will most likely discard the petal hood and get a reversible. The quality of the lens cap included with this kit is a bit rough, though it works and would be an acceptable replacement if you accidentally loose an original cap.Everything else in this kit is decent, and does what they are supposed, for the most part. And all at a price that is great for getting started with experimentation.

I already had a NIKON Z6 camera . wanted the lens to take close up flower photos. Did the research and ordered the lens. Still learning how to use it properly.
