It has the virtue of being able to fit a 17.9 inch laptop, and not many backpacks will do that and still fit a reasonable camera case too. When I purchased this backpack I envisioned using it for day hikes, camping trips and photography expeditions. After using it cautiously a few times I found that it's really not suited for bad weather (rain, snow and even mud) and having branches and leaves and things found in nature scrape against it. The outer material is not tough. It pulls and rips and takes stains easily.I saw reviews rave about the "pockets everywhere". It has a few compartments, but not all of them are sealable in the interior, and items don't stay in those open pockets.Finally, the bottom of the bag has a flap on the outside of where they envision your camera/bag being stored. The outside of the flap has two leather straps with buckles which are completely ornmamental. The straps on the flap secure themselves to the outside back side of the bag with two small, non-powerful magnets. MAGNETS instead of the leather strap buckles. Nah. I don't want magnets near my gear, do you?This backpack looks nice, and the shoulder straps are comfy. Lots of open space inside. But if you're intending it to be more than a companion for a few hours on a trip to someplace nice and clean, keep looking.
