Seen the moon so clear it was pretty amazing.
This is an excellent telescope for a good price. Looks nice and gotten a lot of compliments and the view of the moon was pretty amazing and so close. LOL

A fine introductory telescope
If I were introducing someone to telescope astronomy, I'd probably go for this telescope.Putting it together and understanding the principles of operation are important, and this 'scope allows for that.Putting it together was easy -- follow the easy-to-understand instructions.Operation is very easy: the finderscope, once aligned, keeps its hold, and then you can look through the main 'scope for viewing. The Moon looks magnificent, and the craters and detail are very visible.Looking to Jupiter one can detect its main moons around it (really lovely to see) and there's some detail on the planet visible.Other telescopes are difficult to get out and go with them, whereas this is ready-to-go once put together, which makes it an attractive option if you want to star-gaze with friends out of your back-garden or roof-terrace.

WHAT A COOL LIGHT
I got this for a friends birthday and didn’t really have high expectations, I just thought it would be a cute little gift or gag gift if it wasn’t cool. HOWEVER, this thing is dope. When he opened it we set it up and played with the colors for like an hour. The stand is perfect and not distracting from the Moon itself. The moons craters are probably my favorite part and they are so well highlighted in every color and easy to see from far away. The remote does so much more than I even knew it could and there are SO MANY COLORS. He sends me pictures of this little guy lit up all the time and just loves it so much. I may eventually buy one for myself

Powerful little guy
I was not expecting much for spending less than a hundred bucks, but this little telescope delivers. I can see craters on the moon and the rings of Saturn. Yes is blurry, and a blob with rings barely visible, but it does work. The stand just OK, any less I would have deducted a star, but it is passable. I recommend adding some weight to it. I used a carabiner with some weights and set it up on my backyard table. Even the slightest touch to the table to scope makes it difficult to align to an object. There is a lot or trial an error to get it aligned with the most powerful settings. Nonetheless, I feel that you get more than what you pay for. This is a great beginners telescope. Those who want more, should be willing to pay out at least five hundred bucks to get something more stable and powerful. Enjoy..

Great quality, easy setup, comes with storage case
I live in a secluded area with very little light pollution leaving me a great display at night. I wanted to enhance my view so I decided to give this a try. It was easy to set up and comes with easy to follow instructions for use as this was my first time using one. I couldn’t believe how much this amplified the moon. I can actually see the craters on it. I am going to start looking for other planets as I expand my knowledge. I like that this comes with a storage case as I don’t have a space indoors to keep it set up at all times.

Hello universe!
I've had this telescope for over a month now it's a really impressive product. The go-to feature makes finding things in the sky a breeze but what I love is it keeps what you are looking at centred in the eyepiece, the mount countering the Earths spin. The only complaint I would make is that the focussing mount rocks as it is raised and lowered so it takes it out of collimation, you have to push against the mount after turning the focus wheel. It's an inconvenience but overall this is great telescope. It has a maximum magnification of 250 and with a 6mm and x2 Barlow you can get close to that. Out of the planets I've only really had a chance to look at Jupiter but the bands on its surface were clearly visible. Using it to look at the Moon reveals craters within craters as you can get in really close. I love this telescope and it has really expanded what I can see. Great for a 4 yr old
This is perfect for a 4 yr old, you can see the moon well and it's craters, the kid was amazed. We also saw the ring around Saturn...yeah I know...pretty cool for this type of a telescope. Backpack is great, you pack it up and take it with you camping or friends house. It is compact/short and easy to handle. Just like another review, the tripod could be better, it should be a bit heavier...we have yet to use the software it came with, so I can't tell you much but...I downloaded a free app on my tablet where you point it at the sky and it tells u where what is...it is a must if you want to teach your kid something about stars and not just here are some shiny spots on the sky, enjoy.

nice little package
I recieved the starmax a few days ago....was well packaged. The OTA is of high quality and the eyepieces that are supplied are marked orion plossls. The catalog says 10mm and 25 kellners....Anyway they seem good quality. The small dobsonian style mount is ok for the job ( I mounted the whole setup on an old bogen photo tripod)because the starmax is so lt. wt.( you could probably mount a short tube 80 on it too.) Finally got a chance last night to test it out. Weather has been lousy for weeks, but briefly the sky partially cleared for a clear view of the moon. I have a celestron 8-24 zoom eyepiece I used and the moon was great. At max zoom The scope was at 156x....razor sharp views of craters. Tried to take a stab at mars, but visability deteriorated quickly. For $199 its hard to wrong. The supplied redot finder is very user friendly too.
