ITS GREAT DRONE FOR BEGINNERS AND FOR PRO AS WELL , BEST PART OF THIS DRONE IS VIDEO STABILITY. MY FIRST DRONE FOR SOME REASON WAS DEFECTIVE , SO I SEND IT BACK AND ORDER ANOTHER ONE . PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO BUY DJI CARE REFRESH .

My grandson and I sat down to begin syncing the drone. His father joined. I had charged the battery before the party hand the remote was prepped. We carefully followed the directions and turned on the remote to sync and calibrate the flight. My 14 yr old grandson used the remote to fly the drone forward, back, over to a trampoline, and back. He announced he would have it repeat this at a higher altitude. As the drone began to go up, he tried try to use the remote to bring it down, but the drone did not respond. He tried the emergency shut off, but the drone was already at least three stories high. We helplessly watched the drone ascend until it was a small dot, like a released balloon.I would not recommend this drone.However, with the company’s help, we were able to get a replacement quickly. Tech support assisted us to activate the drone and calibrate it with the controller. We are excited to use it!!!

Update: After contacting DeeRc and letting them know the issues I was having, they recommended replacing the drone. After a quick replacement, my experience is 180 from the original one. The D40 is a fun little drone, battery life is good, picture is way better than my d20, stability is better, control is better. Great little starter drone for those looking to get into drone flying.

I have deletd my previous review due to sugsequent favorable experience with DJI. The drone is being returned from DJI after a "replacement" and I will finalize this after I check that drone out this weekend. For now I rate the Drone and DJI a four (4).

This is one great little Drone for flying inside mostly but can handle outside. Great first drone and for getting acclimated with the position and control of the drone in the air. I love the small drones because you can use them in your home on rainy days.

This is a great starter drone at a great price. Easy to set up and fly. Camera works well. Everything you want in a small drone.

The DEERC D20 mini drone is very fun to play with. Setting up the drone and taking it to the skies is quick and only requires a few simple steps. Also, the drone controls are very responsive and controllable.The “take photo” gesture works best when the drone is within arms reach. I think it’s cool that this drone also has an adjustable camera. The trim adjustments are nice to have, however I do prefer manually flying the drone when it is windy because it gives me more control. Despite several tumbles to the ground, I still haven’t broken a single propeller thanks to the excellent propeller guards.The 360-flips on this drone are fun to watch and really easy to trigger. This drone comes with two battery packs that allow for up to 20 minutes of total flight time, a carrying case, and also two charging cables which are convenient for charging both batteries at the same time.

The package that the drone came in was very nice with a solid cardboard box, wrapped in a zippered plastic bag, with a hard-case backpack with foam cutouts for storing the drone and all the parts. The drone was preassembled with only the batteries needing to be charged, phone app to install, and syncing of the GPS location. The instruction manual was a little difficult to follow but my son 12 yo was able to read through the info and setup the drone, install the phone app, and fly the drone without crashing it.The drone kit is nice because both the remote control and the drone come with rechargeable batteries so no need to purchase alkaline batteries for the remote control. The drone uses WiFi5 so most relatively new phones support 802.11 AC it doesn't support WiFi6 or 802.11AX but that's not needed for the video feed from the drone and WiFi5 works very well for both range and image quality. Downloading and installing the phone app was easy on my iPhone 12 from the app store and the image was clear but a little off color. I didn't have a spare TF card so we didn't take any videos or pictures on the drone itself but next time I will get a small 64GB card to take short videos and photos.Once you setup the drone a few times it becomes pretty easy to acquire the GPS signal and setup the launch location. We used the follow-me function which my little ones liked because the drone followed them when they were running across the field, see picture of the grassy field I circled the drone with a yellow marker. The altitude hold works very good because many of the drones with altitude hold, holds the height from the ground but not the location and they will drift horizontally. This drone stayed in one place and didn't drift to forward, backward, or side-to-side.I wish the drone came with prop guards as the four props do spin quite rapidly and could be a hazard if people or animals are nearby when the drone is flying low or is descending. After showing my 5 yo how to launch and control the up/down and motion of the drone he was able to fly the drone unassisted in a large wide open field. The product page says for adults but with practice and supervision this works well for children to fly and control. We didn't use the waypoint or the voice controls as we were still trying to make sure we were flying the drone safely and didn't crash into any objects or people.The batteries give around 15 minutes of flight time flying at altitude with the video on and there are two sets of batteries included in the drone kit. The rechargeable controller batteries lasted through two charges of the drone batteries or 1 hour of flying time without running low. Because there are no prop guards you will need a pretty large space to fly this drone safely but overall it's a fun with easy to control flight and stable take off and landings.
