The Ecotones Sound + Sleep Machine has been a godsend in helping me sleep with the tinnitus that I have. The white noise in the rich setting was just what I needed. However, I've had the same issues with both of the units that I've had over the last year and a half. Both of them began making loud and intermittent buzzing noises after being in use for 6-8 months. The first unit was returned and replaced free of charge, and the customer service representative told me that my unit probably had a defective sound card and that the company had been having trouble with them and had addressed the problem. However, the replacement started doing the exact same thing about a week or so ago. If I take the machine into the volume range that mostly masks my tinnitus, the buzzing noise is pretty unbearable and not only keeps me awake, but my wife and also my daughter who is in the adjacent room. As this is one of the pricier units on the market, I've found its durability pretty underwhelming. As a sleep aid, it's outstanding and that's the only reason I'm giving it three stars. However, I wouldn't purchase another one---lightning struck twice in this case.Update---I was contacted by the manufacturer after posting this review offering to deal with the issue with the Ecotones unit. After talking to a service representative, I was shipped a new sound card, which I installed and fixed the problem. They would have given me either a new machine or a full refund if that didn't work. Overall, really exceptional service and a willingness to stand behind their product. I'm upping the rating and giving this product my recommendation.

Great sound- love the ocean! We especially like the fact that the sound increases due to outside noise- very cool!

We are enjoying this machine a great deal. We have had a sound machine for quite a few years which recently went the way of all electronics and replacing it with this machine was a great choice. A good range of sounds available and easy operation.

I have both this Ecotones product and the more basic but rugged Marpac/Dohm white noise machine. There is no question in my mind that the Dohm machine will outlast this one, which looks and feels like a cheap electronics product. It does work and I do like using it, however it does not feel like something that is built to last, and reading the many reviews of this product it seems like often, it does not. Regard it as disposable and then you won't be disappointed.

I have used this product for some time now and I like the easy to use controls. It works well and not only drowns out background noise but also creates a pleasant atmosphere for sleeping. Shipping was fast.
