It is a great addition to the adventurer’s tool bo
GoPro Hero Session ReviewOver the Christmas holiday I received a GoPro Hero Session. It is a great addition to the adventurer’s tool box. Anyone that will be traveling and exploring the world should own one to capture and record their journeys. This option is for you if you are looking for a less expensive GoPro that still captures amazing video and picture quality. This review is based on picture and video quality, battery life, user friendliness, size, weight, cost, and overall performance.Phenomenal features include:• Photo Quality: 8MP/ 10 FPS Burst/ Time Lapse• Video Quality: 1440p30 and 1080p60• Battery Life: 3 Hours• Weight: 0.16 pounds• Wi-Fi and Bluetooth• Water Proof up to 33 meterBattery Life:While in very cold temperatures in Colorado it performed for almost the whole day utilizing start and stop recording. This is of course, is an expected outcome due to extreme conditions of sub-freezing temperatures and high altitude. You can still enjoy taking amazing videos in even the most severe terrain with the battery holding up.Photo and Video Quality:When looking at videos and pictures on a desktop, it is very easy to download and sort through the captured material. Along with viewing on a desktop you can download the capture app on your cellular device that is supported by GoPro. This is a very convenient way to delete unwanted pictures and videos on the go. The Wi-Fi connection between your phone and camera is strong and allows easy formatting of your SD card.Weight and Water Proofing:The small size and lightweight of this camera lets you take it virtually anywhere. Whether you are skiing through tight trees in Colorado or swimming in the wide-open ocean observing coral reefs, this camera will capture all the unique and crazy things you will encounter. If you plan on doing either of these activities the possibility of your camera getting wet is inevitable. This camera is also waterproof! With water tight ports for charging, data storage, and data retrieval, it covers all the basic necessities to capture a great adventure in a wet environment. The great thing about this product is that it is a reasonably priced piece of merchandise that is very functional and practical for the adventurous type. This product is recommended highly to those who do not want to drop three to four hundred dollars on a more sophisticated GoPro. It covers all the basic needs for durability, battery life, photo and video quality, and has excellent performance. You will never be disappointed with this product. It will be your ultimate travel buddy.

Update: The best company EVER!
Update: I reached out to Insta360 and they were very responsive. They have provided solutions to all of my issues I have had over the 2 years. I was surprised at how quickly they work. I had a software bug where the pro stabilization wasn't working... I sent over the footage to insta360 and they gave me a link to download a older version of the software to fix the issue, but they did a firmware update within that week and fixed it so that I don't have to use older software... This company is simply amazing, and I will feel confident in purchasing their product again if any issue arises. From the 2 years I had the camera I can now say that my previous review was incorrect. The battery life on this is premium battery and doesn't degrade as quick. The motherboard on this camera separates the battery from the processor, so the battery is protected from heat.

Would be great...if it didn't keep blanking out! (

Update: 9/22/22: After posting my last review update, Galayou reached out to me concerned about my issues and asking if they could send me a replacement camera to try again and see if I could get it working. I agreed, and the new camera arrived today. I immediately plugged it in to try again.Like the rest of them, I had issues getting connected to it at first. I've just accepted the fact it is always going to take me several tries to get it going. Not that big a deal, just a bit frustrating. I think it helped to delete all the old "temporary" networks on my phone and restart the Wansview app. After doing that it connected. I could never get the "QR code" option to work though. The primary concern was whether it was going to take down my network again. I am happy to report, so far it is performing as good as the second one! When it first came online, the lag was pretty bad. But eventually it caught up and seems to be less than a second now. No devices dropped from my network at any time that I noticed when initially powering up.I must give Galayou kudos for being persistent and genuinely wanting me to be happy. They never offered me any payment, and never asked me to change my review. They just asked if they could send me a replacement camera at no charge to try and make things better. I appreciate the integrity.Bumping back to 5 stars for their efforts, and the fact that I now have two good working cameras.Update 8/3/22: Once again I gave it another chance and ordered a replacement for the last one that failed. This one also does the exact same thing where it takes out the entire Wifi network shortly after power up. I give up. I really like the one that works, but 3 out of 4 defective ones is just too much hassle regardless of price. Dropping another star. It would be down to 1 star if the one unit I received that wasn't defective hadn't been working so well, but I'm really happy with that one. I just wish I could get another one that worked. :-(Update: 7/5/22: I was so happy with the replacement that I decided to order another one while the price was still low. Unfortunately attempt #3 has also been met with strife. This one has a completely different problem. I was able to get it set up initially (with the same fiddliness as the others) and get an image to show up in ContaCam, but then realized that EVERY OTHER DEVICE on my WiFi network, including the other camera, had lost its connection. I tried several times to be sure it wasn't just a fluke. It was consistent. Plug in the camera, WiFi goes down. Unplug the camera, WiFi comes back up. Time for another return and exchange.I still think they are great cameras for the price when they work, but so far I've had 2 out of 3 with issues. Dropping to 4 stars because quality control definitely seems to be lacking. The good news is the previous (2nd) one is still working great. I have had virtually no false motion triggers and the image and sound quality are quite acceptable. I think if you get a good copy, you'll be happy. Just expect that it might take a few tries to get one that works properly.Update 6/17/22: I ended up returning the camera for a replacement of the same model. I'm glad I did! So far this new one has been running for about 2 hours with NO blanking and ZERO false motion triggers in ContaCam. I'm thrilled!I still had just as much trouble getting the new one to connect. I'm not sure what the deal is with that. I tried probably 5 times with no luck, then suddenly it worked. Go figure. The lag doesn't seem quite as bad with this one as the old one. When using the pan/tilt it's only a couple seconds behind instead of closer to 10 seconds. The controls are still too coarse to be able to point it exactly the way I want, but at least I don't have to wait so long to see the results each time I bump it.So, with what seems to be a properly functioning example of this product, I'm switching my rating from 1 star to 5. This camera really does have the best price/performance ratio of any I have tried. I may just buy another...---Original review below---I needed a camera that supports RTSP so I could use it with ContaCam software. This one came up super cheap on special, so I decided to give it a try.I struggled a little bit with the setup. I think most of it was self-inflicted, but parts of the process were a bit confusing to me and it took a few tries to get connected to the WiFi. I'm a tech person by trade, so if it confused me, it will probably confuse others too. In the end I was able to get it going, though I can't remember what the problem ended up being since I tried so many things. Once I had everything set right I was easily able to connect to it using ContaCam. They even have a preset choice for Wansview RTSP.The software isn't as bad as some that you get with these cheap Chinese made cameras. This one at least looks like they *tried* to make it look refined. For the most part the features seem to work and it is generally easy to use. It did take me a while to figure out the pan/tilt control though. It doesn't work quite as you'd expect (you have slide the dot in the middle fully toward the direction you want to go) and the camera movement is too coarse. Combined with the lag in seeing what the camera is recording makes it really hard to fine tune where you are pointing. It should ramp movement so a small control movement moves the camera a little, and a larger movement moves the camera more. Instead it seems to be more of an on/off control and since you can't see the results for a few seconds I kept overshooting my target. One of the main reasons I want to use ContaCam is because I don't like the idea of running software on my phone from an unknown source. It didn't ask for unreasonable permissions (only access to photos as I recall) so that's a good thing. But I don't know for sure if it is this app, or coincidence, but my Android phone seems to use a ridiculous amount of battery while its running. Fortunately, once the camera is set up, you don't need to run the app anymore except to change configuration. (or if you wanted to live view from your phone, which I don't do often) I could probably even uninstall if I wanted to free up the space.Initial impression of image quality is that it's pretty good for a camera in this price range. It is mounted in my garage that isn't very well lit with the doors closed, so it runs in night mode most of the time. Certainly good enough image quality for my needs, which is just to see who is coming and going. Here's where things go off the rails though. OFTEN throughout the day (sometimes multiple times per minute), the image will "blank out" and go completely grey for a few seconds. (see attached video clip) Not that big a deal if you are continuous recording, but I am trying to use ContaCam's motion detection to just record times of interest, and each time the camera blanks out it triggers a motion event. This behavior is causing literally 600+ false triggers a day, making motion detection completely useless. Yes, I can filter out events less than a certain length in ContaCam, but if I increase the threshold much more I may start missing legitimate events. Some of the blanks are lasting 4-5 seconds. The other reviews here are overall pretty good, which makes me somewhat suspicious in itself, however I would agree with all the comments about this being a pretty good camera EXCEPT for the blanking. I am wondering if maybe I just got a defective one. At any rate, I am going to have to return it because it is useless to me as is. I just need to decide if I want to gamble on it being a defective unit and getting an exact replacement, or just cut my loses and return for a refund. If I end up just getting it replaced, I will update this review with the results.

A no-brainer if you already have Canon glass
I'm very impressed with this camera so far. I regularly shoot with a 5D mark III and lots of L glass. A caveat is that a big part of my decision to go this was based on all of the glass already owned so I can't compare it to the Sony, Nikon, Panasonic offerings. IMO, cameras are a system and the glass is the most important part. I needed a travel camera and occasionally a backup on the sports fields for wide angle shots. Most of those shots are not ones that require rapid shooting so this fit the bill until the 1DX replacement comes out. You can shoot rapidly for about 4 shots with RAW turned on and then it stops for the buffer write.I didn't bother with any of the kit lenses at this point although I may look at them later. Note that it isn't mount compatible with your Canon lenses but a $49 Canon white box adapter takes care of that. I'm not seeing any focus issues with any of the lenses (70-200F4, 24-70F2.8, 100 macro, 100-400 II) even in low enough light that the ISO was at 6400.And that segues nicely into image quality. It's really good. Surprisingly good and very comparable to the older 5D Mark III even at high ISO's (6400). I'll keep testing it but pixel peeping at some inside, night shots yielded very clean images. So good that my general observation was that the noise pattern on the M3 might even be a little less noticeable. It isn't going to replace my III for a lot of things but the package is nice. I would have killed to have it as a backup this summer when my III shutter failed after 216,000 uses. The small size does make it not quite as ergonomic as the bigger camera but they've crammed a lot of controls in there. I was really pleased that in manual mode there are two separate dials for aperture and shutter speed which beats my old Rebel XTi in usability. The articulating screen is nice although I do worry a little about scratching/mangling all of that exposed screen and attachment. I also purchased the EFT because it was only a $20 add on with purchase at the time. I probably wouldn't pay the regular price of $200. It's nice to have but not that nice. The remote capabilities are also fun to play with although they work better with the camera as an access point rather that using an external AP. I haven't quite figured out what all to do with it but the possibilities are cool. Overall, it's a pretty sweet package and the compromises are quite reasonable for those of us invested in a Canon camera system.

Good quality, kids love it, I would prefer bigger m
Good camera.Light and good construction.my six year old can manage to navigate by herself- my 4 year old needs some assistance. The downside is the memory. You can take 51 pictures (which for kids takes about 5 seconds..)and then you have fo start erasing them. And it's complicated to switch from taking photos to viewing them. Overall though they are having great fun with it!

Decent after a lot of tweaks
Update from 3 stars to 4 and here's why:After my review went up, Haitham at Blink reached out to me. He gave me more tips on camera positioning and apologized again for the defective camera.I've received a replacement camera as of today and it appears to be working well. They provided a prepaid shipping label to ship back the defective one, a big plus considering some companies try to make you pay to ship back their defective goods. So why 4 and not 5 - to get the cameras working properly, I had to remount three out of the four functioning ones (despite following the rules of not mounting them directly in front of what I wanted to record) and get pretty creative about it, plus literally a couple of hours of calibration time to find the right settings for what I want. The trade off was not covering as much of my property as initially planned. I still don't believe the range is 20-25 feet. These aren't nearly as plug and play as they might seem, but all said, I'm no longer considering returning them.Recommendations: use outdoor mounting tape and calibrate your camera(s) before you start drilling holes in things.Don't try to do too much on the app at once - it needs time to communicate with the cloud. I've had very little issue with the app when I take this into consideration.Don't gripe about paying for cloud storage. Get local storage if you don't like it. That's the way the world's moving.Someone mentioned it didn't accept above a certain gb local storage - I plugged in a 256gb Samsung thumb drive and had no issues. Whether Blink will store that much to it is yet to be determined.Original: Bought a 5 camera system and got one defective one (not sensing motion) - An optimistic 5 stars to customer service who is replacing it after having me do normal trouble shooting items. Now, the reason for the 3 stars - ding about a half a star for having a defective product out of the box. I didn't pay almost $400 to have to deal with that.Ding a star and a half, because despite their "range" where you can gray out other areas, I've messed with them all throughout the day since installing them, and have repeatedly made it down my driveway to my car and back without triggering the camera and have the sensitivity up as high as it'll go. I think the motion detection range is much shorter than the view window. This is a big deal for me, as I expected them to capture anyone coming up to my vehicle.Overall, I wanted much more out of the motion detection. The image is fine when you're within a few feet of them, it's when you're further away that it gets granier (day or night). Not 100% positive if I'll keep them or not just yet.
