customer service fixed an initial problem
the second time I went to check the picture card I noticed the camera screen was filled with moisture and the microsd card was wet. It was closed correctly and I have about 5 or 6 different trail cameras and this was the first one that I detected moisture in the inside. I have let it set overnight and the screen still has moisture on the inside of it. It was slow download pics from card but it had taken and recorded pics up to the day I removed the camera. Daytime pictures are crystal clear. Nighttime....not so much and really have no good shots taken at night. No clue as to why there was moisture inside since it was closed properly. Also the micro sd card is hard to take out. Had to take tweezers because the card went too far into the camera to use my fingers to grab onto it and yes I do have other cameras with micro cards and have had no problems. Seems to detect motion from a good distance. If it dries out I will use it indoors as a security camera in a outbuilding I have but don't know if condensation will be a factor inside a closed building.update: Nov 16.....got an email from company that said they would be willing to send a replacement or give me a refund. I requested a replacement. I added a star for the company reaching out. When I get the replacement I will test it out to see how it works out and I understand that sometimes a product slips by the production line that doesn't meet company standards. I will update the review after I receive the replacement. I am hopeful that the replacement will meet my expectations.update Dec 1. Had replacement camera out for close to two weeks. No moisture on this one on the interior workings and it takes very good pics. set this one up near bird feeder. Captures the flutter in their wings and gets pics of the small birds. A couple of night pictures show a deer hanging around. So I would say that with the customer service response and the fact that the replacement is working fine, I would recommend this.

Good value and works great
This is now our third baby monitor in 2 years. The first one was a single camera knock off brand from Amazon and the monitor died after about a year and a half of constant use (we just usually left it running all the time because it was a pain to turn on and off). Then we had a more expensive VTech monitor that wouldn't connect to the camera and had pretty terrible night vision so we had to return it. This is one is by the best monitor we've had by far. It allows you to connect multiple cameras, it has a battery saving mode, temperature, pans and tilts much farther than the other two and probably the nicest thing about it is that it doesn't making an annoying clicking noise when it goes from night to day video mode. It also turns on and off quickly and goes into power saving mode if you want. I'm not sure about battery life yet as we just got it. Definitely would recommend especially if you need more than one monitor!

UPDATE: While the camera didn't exactly fit my needs and I didn't do enough research into the true capabilities, this company's customer service can't be beat. They have been totally responsive and assisted me in finding additional solutions. I would buy from them again in a heart beat any product that met my technical needs.Pros: The cameras are very easy to set up and use. The picture quality is very good, the range to the wireless router is great.Cons: If the goal is to get high quality video the bandwidth requirements for the 4MP video is too high for most houses, especially wireless. But the biggest problem is the motion detection and recording of video. By the time the camera starts recording the event is already over so you get a lot of nothing. The motion detection is very spotty - sometimes it is very sensitive and sometimes someone waiving their hands doesn't even register. I spent a lot of money to be able to capture video events and it is not useful for that at all.

Wonderful Customer Service
I have 2 of these DCR-8 systems, one I’ve had for 2 years, I’m a caregiver for my Mom that has Dementia, it worked so well, I purchased one for my daughter that had a baby 10 months ago.The first One-there’s been no problem, the 2nd one lost connection from the camera to the monitor. We did the troubleshooting, couldn’t get it to connect. I called customer service, (on a Saturday) talked with Emma, she walked me through the troubleshooting process again. We couldn’t get it to connect.She emailed me the process how to return for a new one, we were within the 12 months warranty period, and luckily, Amazon keeps track of purchases. I sent the system back, sent proof of mail return, and another camera was sent out.I received the new system yesterday (Tuesday). 4 days from start to finish.The DCR-8 is very good. The Customer service representative Emma C. was great. It was refreshing to have someone help from the beginning process to the end.

Excellent Image Quality and Capabilities for the P
The media could not be loaded.
So far, we are very happy with the camera. Excellent capabilities for the price. We have it mounted outside for "close up" viewing of our birdfeeders. It is working very well for this application. We're still working on configuring the motion-sensing capabilities, but hope to be able to capture photos or videos when birds arrive at the feeders.The camera does have auto-focus capability. Unfortunately, it often focuses on something in the background; for example, the lawn behind our birdfeeders. But the manual focusing capability brings what we want to look at into very sharp focus, even at high zoom levels.The instructions are a bit difficult to understand but we worked through them and successfully got it working. It would be helpful to have some more detailed instructions and guidance on all the parameters that can be set through the parameter codes. It looks like there are all kinds of configuration options (e.g., stops to limit 360° rotation, automatic scanning between preset locations, rotation and tilt speed adjustments, focus depth of field, and many others).

Poor quality and was charged twice bbw
Terrible product. Most of the film comes out blank and does not develop. I wrote to seller explaining this and they sent me a replacement. Just now they recharged me for the replacement. I explained there was nothing to send back due to the nature of the product. The film went into the camera and we didn't keep the box. The person I talked to said it was fine and not to worry. This was a lie I am now being charged twice for film that doesn't work

Great baby cam
Did a lot of online research for a good baby cam because there are a ton of bad ones out there. This one was a little pricier then the average but I wanted a stand alone screen and something I could use on my phone.The app set up was a little wonky but eventually got it to work. The device screen that comes with it let's you turn an led indicator on or off when the cam is working. It has some white noise and music that will play with it and a night light.It's night mode works pretty well. You will have to tweak some of the alert detection features a bit before you find why you like. I had the noise sensitivity set to high and it was detecting the music coming from the device. It allows you to change the sensitivity.One of the features I bought it for was the park mode. Basically you can stow the camera facing down and not recording when not in use. Gives a little piece of mind. I mounted the camera to the wall and so far everything is working well.

Durable and User Friendly
I bought this camera for my 11yo son for Christmas. He wanted something to take videos of his chickens and put on his YouTube channel. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that he would loose interest in or break. Best gift....easy to set up and super easy to move photos and videos to your phone or tablet. I love it so much.....I may have to get me one as well!

Money well spent
This camera/monitor combo has worked out very well for my family. The camera is responsive to the movement controls and zooms in/out well without degrading the image too much. The night vision works well and we could see if our daughter was having issues falling asleep or not. We could also speak to her thru it - sometimes that was ideal if we wanted to wake her gently without opening the door, startling her.When my daughter got older, about a year and a half, she began beating up our monitor when she found it. We tried to keep it away from her, but they climb! The cord input was loosened inside the device which prohibited a charge. I thought we were going to have to junk it, but Infant Optics offered to replace the part at no additional charge even though it was out of warranty by a few months. We can now continue using it. We're very happy with Infant Optics' product and its customer service.
