Fantastic companion for the G10 or G11
I needed a highly portable bounce flash for my Canon Powershot G11. I was a little concerned at first that in the absence of controls on the flash that I would have little control over the flash. I could not have been more wrong. In conjunction with the Canon Powershot G11, the Canon Speedlite 270EX is FULLY controllable from the G11 menus. I was also concerned that because the 270EX was small it lacked power. I was wrong here again. The 270EX packs a lot of power and it recycles fairly fast for its size.Pros:* Compact and lightweight* Very powerful for its size* Fast recycle time* Completely integrated with the Canon Powershot G11* Able to bounce the flash* Inexpensive* White balance communication with cameraCons:* Have not found any yet

A1+++++ consistent flash supply
Excellent price and Guide rangeBattery life good and recharge speed is goodAlways have plenty of spare battery (caution) if you out for gig and unlike SB-900 doesn't come upwith overheating warning - meaning you need to stop shooting. All that it does if it gets too warm is too slow the repeating flash and recycle time thus controlling the overheating situation.Nice LCD and control layout.One minor bug bear is with Nikon who should have recalled the SB-900 and repair the unit or give the SB-910 as replacement or some $$/£ off the SB-910;

Simple and Effective
Lightweight, solid construction, and dead simple to use. Recycle time is great from 1/2 power to lower. Full power pops take a few seconds. Honestly, my Nikon SB-25 fails to pop far more often than this. Simple controls and very legible LED indicators make this super easy to use. It lacks any extra features (TTL, stroboscopic, element zoom, etc.) but does includes a bounce card and wide-angle diffuser. I keep it on me all the time, and use it in optical slave mode constantly. Great 2nd flash, or main flash if your needs are simple. Perfect for me. Maybe not for pro wedding photographers, but pros can afford the better gear anyways.

Love this SB-900 but it's very difficult to learn
I love this flash. I've had my SB-900 for about a year now, and am still amazed at how well it works. The worst thing about it is how difficult it is to understand and learn how to use. It also takes a much longer than normal amount of time to recycle after each flash. This is a huge problem when shooting a wedding or trying to get any number of action shots! It goes through batteries like crazy too. Still all-in-all, I love the flash, and it gives me great results even in the worst of lighting situations if I have time to wait until it recycles each time!

Cheap flash, perfect for product photography and s
I'm giving this strobe 4 stars for what it is: a cheap flash.Pros:- Works with Pocket Wizards and CyberSyncs hooked up to FlashZebra hotshoes. Exactly how my studio is set up.- CHEAP! For $38, you can't beat it as a reliable external flash for product photography.- Built-in bounce card.Cons:- The flash head doesn't lock into position. If you attach a softbox (like the LumiQuest) the flash head rotates out of position because of weight.- Not very powerful. Can't use outside. At 1/1 (full power) it's about as bright as my Canon 430EXII at 1/4 +0.7 power.- Recycle time is just adequate. At 1/1 (full power) it takes about 3 seconds using fresh NiMH batteries. At 1/2 power, it takes a little over 1 second. (Keep in mind, at full power, this Neewer flash is equal to 1/4 +0.7 power on a Canon 430EXII, which recycles at half a second at 1/2 power.

Not as bad as the reviews would have you believe
After reading the online reviews of this little speedlight, I wasn't expecting much. But I needed a flash for a family party at a club the next day and couldn't spend too much - so I thought I'd give it a go. To my surprise I'm pleased with my purchase. The build quality seems ok and it came with a pouch to store the flash in. In terms of performance, I got about 90-100 pictures before the recycle time dropped somewhat. That's using Duracell Power Plus batteries. I've got some cracking pictures at ISO 400 using my Sigma EX HDM lense. So much better than using the built in flash - not as harsh. Bouncing the light from the ceiling really helps. Overall, not a bad little speedlight for a hobbyist. A big step up from using the built in flash, that's for sure.

Amazing!!

 Coming from the V860II it is better in almost every way. I love the modeling light as it can be used as a run and gun video light in dark places. It has a faster and quieter recycle. Really like the manual-ETTL switch! I'm using it on the R5 and the quick lock foot works great, also has a slightly better on-off switch. Has a better exposure when using as a direct flash, the V860II always over exposed for me. This is my favorite so far from my godox light collection godox VING V860IIIN TTL flash. I use 2 for wedding events. If you are using a flash and you have battery issue, stop what you are doing and order this flash now! The battery life is amazing. I can get through 2 weddings without having to charge the battery (not recommended though). I purchased back up batteries and have never needed to use them. The flash is super easy to use. Especially when it comes to syncing multiple flashes. I highly recommend purchasing this flash. You won't be disappointed. If you are using v1 its good addition in combo.

Great bang for your buck
I bought this flash because I needed a decent flash for my canon dslr. I really wanted a canon speed flash, but like a lot of people having photography as a hobby, I could not justify spending the money on one. One of my close friends has a canon speed flash and I will say, it's better then this flash by far, however....is it worth the extra 400 dollars? I don't know...maybe if your a professional and need lots of pictures with flashes all at once. The vivitar flash I ordered came in the mail fast and packaged well. It seems to be of nice quality, except for a few parts. The door for the batteries feels a bit flimsy and the locking wheel for the shoe mount is made of plastic. These are two complaints I was aware of before even buying this flash, so I knew to treat those two areas with a little more care and attention when I use them. Hey, it's camera gear. It shouldn't be treated like a piece of construction equipment anyways. The flash itself is great. This is my first flash and within a few minutes of messing around with it and pressing buttons, I was able to figure out how everything works on it. Putting it in slave mode is as easy as flipping a switch. It works great in that mode by the way. Everything on the display is easy to read and the placement of the buttons are just fine where they are. The first set of batteries I used were a set of standard duracells. After seeing that my recycle time was getting longer and longer after maybe 15-20 pictures, I went out and bought some energizer rechargeable NiCH batteries....boy, what a difference. Night and day. Inside shooting, I usually set my flash to 1/4 or 1/8 power and with a fully recharged set I can click away with almost zero recycle time. On Easter I took about 200 pictures with flash and the batteries are still strong like I just recharged them. I was rattling off pics last night in dark conditions with the same set, no problem. The flash works better then I expected and feels great, looks great and does exactly what I want, when I want.
