Scope was easy to assemble, the carrying vase makes for easy portability. Only issue was setting the spotter scope. Getting this step correct makes this is perfect entry level telescope.

For the most part, this scope works at finding distance and slope. However, if there are trees in the background, the scope will miss the flagstick and give me a reading to the trees. I have to move right or left to "isolate" the flagstick. If there is any fog or rain, the readings will be zero. When using this scope I tend to cross-reference my position with course markers, ie, 200-150-100 yard markers, to know if the scope reading is in the ball park.

Pros: Four-stars for great optics and other hardware (tripod, etc.)Cons:1) Lucky me. I got a scope with the new USB hand controller. The only problem is--I doesn't work. You are supposed to be able to update the firmware by connecting the controller to a USB cable and activating the Celestron Firmware Manager. The CFM software refuses to recognize my scope thru the USB port--so....no firmware update. The work around is to pay another almost $40 for an RS-232 cable and a USB to RS-232 adapter. I think I'll pass--that probably won't work either.2) The "Go to" system is definitely NOT as advertised. They say in the promo literature that you can align the scope on "any two or three" bright celestial objects--you don't even have to know what they are--WRONG. When I go to align the scope it gives me a list of stars to use Aldebaren, Sirius, Polaris and about a dozen more. So--I DO have to know where they are and what they are. They say you can use the moon to align the scope as an object. My scope will not accept the moon. Also at random intervals the motion controls stop working for no apparent reason This is a real problem when aligning the scope, as you have to re-boot the scope and start all over again. If this system worked as advertised it would be a dream. As it is it can be a real headache. I should have given it two or three stars, but the optics arereally good.Update: I contacted Celestron, and they worked me through a fix that involved updating the firmware. The instructions in the manual were incorrect on updating firmware. The scope now works correctly. Celestron customer support is excellent.

It gets the job done. If your wanting to get into the thermal game this scope is for you. It’s loaded with futures. You can’t go wrong with this scope.

Well I have to say I received the scope and worked great the 1st time out. Now 2nd time out it was a little blurry and would not focus. Seller contacted me and asked about the scope on the day I was going to contact them.I explained my issue with scope and they promptly sent me a new one. Great customer service. The new scope is working great. Will be taking it hunting this weekend.

Nice clear spotting score for indoor pistol range. Small enough to leave mounted in my Strong Box.

I have been using a smaller "beginners scope" for a few years and was invited to a friends house one night and saw this telescope. We used it and once I learned how to use the skyalign program it was a breeze to use. It was so simple to just enter what you wanted to see in the hand controller and the scope goes to it. I like it so much I ordered my own. My beginner scope was fun to use but it was difficult to keep moving the scope manually to point at what you want to find and the 130 is motorized so all you do is push the buttons on the hand controller to move the scope.My friend told me to buy the DC power cord if I plan on using the scope away from the house though it runs on battery which I bought with it. Though the scope looks big it can be taken apart and moved with ease and just weighs a little over 30 pounds.

I bought this scope to work on pcb’s. It’s been very helpful.! Scope and the app have been easy to use. Very happy with my purchase.
