Took this on a vacation without fully learning how to use it. I ended up using it for video only, underwater snorkeling. When I finally created a video and watched it on my HDTV, I was pleasantly surprised. Very clear 1080p 60 fps bright colorful underwater video. Now I know how to shoot stills ( single or burst). The latest firmware allows this without the app. Now I am excited to use it windsurfing, ziplining, any outside action activity.The GoPro editing software is somewhat buggy and crashy. I think the crucial step that causes crashes is the conversion of the files to AVI, which is the first step. This step creates huge video files which are suitable for editing. Some of these files must have some errors, possibly due to creating some initial cuts (in order to prevent creating huge AVI files). The solution might be to convert these files without cuts to AVI, which creates a huge file. GoPro splits continuous video into 12 minute segments, which balloon to 13 GB AVI files. You then work with these AVI files, then convert back to various formats such as MP4 with definable bit rate, frame rate, pixel size. The initial conversion to AVI is lossless and perfect, the final conversion I found is extremely high quality, excellent viewing on a large flat screen TV at 1080p 50 fps.
