Constant "Hunt"
ordered this despite the comments about the autofocus. The lens itself is somewhat plasticized, but no more so than a budget Nikon lens. Photo quality is acceptable (but not excitable), especially at this price point. However, the autofocus is really abysmal. It almost gets there, in decent lighting, but fails, dismically, in low light. Try autofocusing in anything under 30 lux and you'll be rewarded with constant hunting. This causes you to miss shots that might have been "The One". Of course you can use manual focus, but that's not why we buy "autofocus" lenses. I have a Yongnuo 50mm f1.8 prime lens that doesn't suffer from this issue. Yongnuo, if you make a really good 50mm, why does the 35mm suffer so much. If you're happy to focus manually, you'll find that this is a very respectable lens, for the price. If you want to be able to autofocus at a reasonable speed (or at all), this may not be the lens for you!
