If you're looking to see stars...
TL;DR - Looking to bring back 70s glamour? STAR FILTERS. 4/6/8 pointed stars for all your needs.
DISCLAIMER - This review sample was provided to me free of charge. The opinions expressed are solely my own with no input from either manufacturer or Amazon.
This filter set comes with 3 star filters. Each filter will create stars, and the number of points will correspond to the numerical notation on each filter; star 4 will create a 4-pointed star, and star 8 will create 8-pointed stars. Simple right?
The build quality is mid-tier and quite lightweight, but in my experience the machining on the screw threads was very good and mounted smoothly to my lens. Removal was also done with ease, though not nearly as frictionless.
On each filter there is an additional adjustment ring that can be adjusted to turn the orientation of the stars.
Image quality is obviously impact, but if you're buying star filters it's not about technical perfection. It's about the stars!
Included, is a handy filter pouch, which is honestly quite nice considering it's free. My only gripe is that it opens and closes with velcro, which can be an irritating sound during a shoot, but honestly, it's a very minor quibble.
Shockingly, I have nothing negative to say about the set. They absolutely deliver on what they promise, they're built to a level that's more than acceptable, and they're great fun.
5/5 STARS
As a quick aside, I should mention that the star effect is largely dependent on your light source. You will observe a significantly stronger star effect when your light source is highly focused compared to a very diffused light source. See images.
