I have not had any experience with Amcrest IP cameras till now just their baby monitor which functions well. Trying to look around a good IP camera for security purposes is pretty overwhelming with all the manufacturers and so many kinds of cameras. I came across Amcrest UltraHD 4K (8MP) Outdoor Security IP Turret PoE Camera. I was curious to see how good it was, so I ordered it. The great thing to start with in this camera is Onvif compliance, so you are not tied to the manufacturer but you can use any software you use like Blue Iris and use different kinds of cameras with it. So this camera is a POE camera which reduces the hassle of separate cabling for power etc. This maybe intimidating for some but you can easily use a POE injector or a POE switch. It comes very nicely packed and the first thing that strokes you once you unpack it is it’s built. It is an all metal build and feels very rugged. I mounted it in several places to try it out outside the house for surveillance, inside the garage, inside the house to check on the dogs etc. Attaching it to a spot and adjusting is a breeze. You can also clearly hear the sound through the inbuilt microphone though you can’t talk back. It has IP67 weatherproof rating so a great choice for outdoors. You can straightaway pop aMicro SD card upto 128GB for local storage so you are not tied up with any monthly subscription services. You can use AmCrest Pro App on your phone to view it or I used their Pro software on my windows PC. I had problem installing the software since I could not see the full UI and had to blindly click through to install it. That may have been a random glitch but not big deal. It has nice AI based alerts and you can customize it very precisely to fit you needs. You can have it 4K or downscale it as per your choice. I would stick to 4K giving you more pixels do even reading the license plates is easier. It has a wide field of view and so covers a wide area with 112° view which is nice. Even the night view on this camera is amazing giving you good area of view. Also I appreciate there is not a ring of less around to pin point the camera in the dark. The time I have had with this camera has been fun and hope to keep tweaking it more as time goes by. I am happy with my purchase and I feel I am going to but a couple for my home surveillance system as an early holiday gift for me, so I can feel safe knowing I can keep an eye on my home from anywhere.

I've tried a variety of cameras for surveillance and so far, this one has been the best.It's easy to set up, the motion detection works great, the night vision works great.I've got a 32 GB SD card in mine right now and it's plenty. It does require 12 AA batteries, but they last a long time.So far, I have viewed pics on the LCD color screen in the camera itself -- I've not tried putting the SD card in my computer. The little screen in the camera is crystal clear. You can take still photos or videos, you can select the image size (5MP is the default), you can select one pic or multi shots, and you can select length of video (from 05 seconds to 59 seconds).Has an incredible 65 feet detection range.Other features I haven't used yet: loop recording, time lapse, timer, date/time stamp, protect with password or secured with cable lock.User manual is quite clear -- I had no trouble following it and setting up the camera by myself. (I'm a woman and a senior citizen.)

Simple, smart, and exceptionally functional...these cameras are amazing and I couldn't be more satisfied. I purchased four of their previous model. Love them! I put them up around my house. The motion detection is outstanding...I will often greet Mike, my postman, before he even leaves the porch because the motion triggers a notification via the app on my iPhone. If I EVER want to see around the outside of my house, I just launch the app, and crystal-clear live 1080p images appear, one image for each of the cameras. I can even listen to the sounds from the camera or speak through the camera's microphone! It's very cool. I'm completely satisfied and intend on purchasing several more of the new pan-tilt model. I purchased one to see if it is as good as the four (earlier model) I'd previously purchased...well, I'd say they are even better. Better ability to secure the camera making it much more difficult to 'steal' (although, I've not had anyone attempt it and unless they cover it, you'd get their face long before they get to the camera...and with motion detection, you'll know they are there and even yell at them!)If you are looking for exceptional cameras to have video surveillance, with motion detection, recording, and all the other things I mentioned...stop looking and buy this one.

Back in 80's I spent a lot of time out in the wild looking to capture my idea of great pics of wildlife, but I always seemed to spook the critters before getting the shot. It was unfortunate that we didn't have digital trail cameras back then as it would have made things a lot easier. I don't get out much anymore but this new TC30 Trail Camera is still finding a place next to my cameras. I have been using it to get daytime pics and video of our local bunnies, bobcats and I even caught a large iguana on video, and that surprised me since its size was probably smaller than the PIR motion detector should have captured. I don't do much night time photography since the IR imaging doesn't interest me much but it would probably be great for providing some surveillance of our property at night. I never considered getting one of these before mainly because of the high cost, but with a good quality camera like this, and at a cost of under one hundred dollars I just could not resist it. Nice camera and low cost, thats hard to beat.

I am rating the replacement camera. The first had a rotation malfunction straight out of the box. Amazon sent the replacement without the charge/refund game, and I received it in two days. Set up was seriously easy. I like the app; In fact, I was able to add two other different surveillance cameras to this app (I like this app more). What drew me to this camera was the optical zoom. I use this feature primarily for bird watching at my bird feeder. At full zoom, the focus is off, but the app allows me to adjust this for optimizing the view. The human recognition is good, but the wind sometimes makes my lamp post sway a bit and the app seems to register this as human movement. I believe a sensitivity change may cure this, but I have not tried this yet. The speaker output is truly impressive. The microphone is also really impressive in its clarity and range. One thing that concerns me is that while am away and sometimes when I want to listen to the noises from the mic, it gives me no sound at all. So far, I cannot explain this. Lastly, it records the alerts. So far I have not figured out how to delete these as a batch. I have not had this camera very long and I am still learning to optimize. However, what I have so far is a camera that I really like.

I bought two of these camera's and had issues with both. One had charging issues with the solar panel, so I reached out to the MFG. The MFG was rude in email to me, so I gave up on trying to get it replaced. I discovered that the solar panel plug wasn't fully inserted into the camera because of something blocking it. I eventually managed to get the plug inserted into the camera and it charges now. The other camera I cannot seem to set the Moton detection right. I changed the Power Manager from Optimal Battery Life to Optimal Surveillance with the motion detection at medium and then it sends me alerts constantly even if a plant leaf blows. I also adjusted the Sensor sensitivity level, but that didn't work either. It is still hit and miss. Sometimes it is sensitive and detects movement and sometimes it won't. I give up, It's not consistent. I do not recommend them.Amended review: after contacting the vendor they were extremely helpful they were apologetic courteous and very responsive. The vendor sent me two new cameras ensured they were set up correctly and they’re functioning as designed. I am now Ila happy Customer.

Amazing video and audio quality, easy to setup, works great with my NAS (Synology RS820+,18GB RAM, 32TB of WD Purple drives with RAID 5 in RX418 expansion unit, M.2 adapter with 2 NVME SSDs for read/write caching, and running Surveillance Station), inexpensive, and did I already mention the amazing 4K video! The coverage of these cameras combined with the 4K image has allowed me to reduce the # of cameras in my system from 16 to 14 with better placement.The app is fine for live viewing, though I use the Synology App for real-world usage. I do not subscribe to the Amcrest cloud storage, nor would I, so cannot opine on the subject.So, why the 4 stars? I would give 4.5 stars if possible because the nuisance issues are really only worth losing half a star. I ordered 11 of the same camera model and 4 of them had the wrong firmware image installed (for a PTZ camera) which caused a prompt for me to download a plug-in if I logged into the camera to make refinements. The other nuisance issue is one of design. The method and mechanics of attaching the camera to the base makes the installation, especially when working overhead, less convenient than one might prefer. Not a deal-breaker though. In fact, I'm ordering two more cameras to bring my total to the 14 mentioned earlier.

I got these to use for home surveillance and to monitor our new baby. These work great for both. My wife likes these much better than a baby monitor cause she can watch our baby from work or anywhere when she want to check on the baby or just missed her. Easy to install. I go to the 1080 for a much better picture. I'm glad I did. The night vision is pretty clear as well. I reccomend getting wall mounts for better visability though.
