The Blue Yeti Blackout Microphone is retails for roughly $130 on Amazon. It’s a USB microphone that can be plugged into any computer with an appropriate port. I received it as a gift for Christmas, and immediately began putting it to use. After using it for over three months now, I would say that over all the Blue Yeti Blackout Microphone is pretty good. The microphone has four different modes of audio pick up: stereo, cardioid, omnidirectional, and bidirectional. Each mode picks up audio in different ways, stereo mode gathers audio in a manner that is more suited for acoustics. Cardioid mode gathers audio in a cone in the immediate vicinity. Omnidirectional and Bidirectional modes collect audio, as the names imply, in all directions and two directions respectively. The microphone also has two other knob and one button. The first knob controls the volume of whatever device is plugged into the headphone jack at the bottom of the microphone. The second knob controls the microphone’s gain. And the button’s purpose is to both mute and unmute the microphone. The button has an integrated light that is solid when you are unmuted and flashing when you are muted. The microphone’s overall construction is exceptionally durable. It has a full metal construction, its so sturdy I would wager that dropping it from a second story window would do next to nothing to the microphone. With high quality external construction, comes high quality internal construction. The sound quality of the microphone is also fantastic. I regularly use Discord to communicate with my friends. As soon as I began usage of the Blue Yeti, my friends immediately picked up on the difference in quality from my old Corsair Void Pro RGB headset.
