Great product, beware of sharp edges
Works great, stable and very easy to adjust your camera's position. It's also lightweight and easy to carry in the bag. The only issue I have is that the gold-coloured metal parts for unlocking the legs are sharp and it can cut you.

Innovative tool which allows creative footage of l
The game changer of this device is it size and capability of recording those not so easy moments. For once, you don’t have to work around your camera, this camera works around you. With the included mounts and additional available mounts that can be purchased, the sky is the limit. I haven’t came across a situation where I wanted to film something and was taken back on how I was going to set things up. Less time figuring out mounting and more time in action and shooting your footage. This is a great size comparison to your Apple AirPods case. The case is multifunction, can be used as a tripod stand, charging unit, remote control and screen capabilities to setup setting, check on battery level and remaining charge cycles left from case. The case also has a LED light on it so you can tell when camera is facing away from you, or setup in a distance if it is recording or not. Has 1/4 female connector on the bottom as well to add a more secure tripod or some sort of Mount. The free application works wonders with taking this to another level of remote control with a large viewing screen. Ontop of that this allows more … easily have application pull all media from device, create a movie on the go, trim, key frame to the perfect position (if you record in Pro), export and share.People mentioned issues with connections to phone, I haven’t had any issues with connections dropping to my iPhone and IOS application. It does take a little long to make the initial connection but that is hard to point fingers at the Go2 as it could be more related to the BT and WiFi protocols being used.People did also mention the battery drain concern to phone and camera with media transfer, yes that could be but if you are capturing that much media on the go you should already have a battery pack in your togo bag which is easy enough to power both devices. When device is running in pro, stabilization is running at its best, you can edit more with repositioning to the best focal point, switch between different POVs, wide, narrow etc.I have had no complaints with stabilization when mounting this and taking on the go, rollercoaster rides, water boat rides were all very enjoyable to watch. If you are not using in a very unstable environment, then just use video mode and not pro mode as unit will not heat up or use as much storage. Pro mode is really only meant for drone, motorcycle, roller coaster uses.WorkaroundsIf all you do is record and mainly in pro mode, you can go into settings and setup different button presses to all start pro video recording instead of the default settings. That way you never have to guess on what mode you are recording in.Can be done with button settings option in application.I have at times had trouble with seeing LED on camera to see if it was recording me but a great workaround I found was to pickup one of those dark skins they have which really makes the LED on the front pop to better help with determining that you are actively recording.Thinking out of the box. This device is Not for recording videos of weddings or high end professional indoor photography. This is mainly for action outdoor shooting. Capture kids, yourself, scenery by mounting and carrying around effortlessly.I am sure Insta360 hears the feedback and on next revision, they will continue to improve. Some things I would suggest:Higher StorageRedesign of record button (as it can be pressed by accident)LED on back of camera too for when not in case and using as POV outside of case and a mount.Be able to charge and transfer data via USB C to USB C connectionWhen case is open and you are using with camera inside, I would of liked to been able to rotate around the bottom portion so the controls would be facing user for easier access. With every device you own there are some setbacks and room for improvement. Nothing in life is perfect so why expect that.No complaints from me on what this offers and it being the only of it’s kind on the market.Enjoy it, love life and record the experience with this little gem.I have been able to capture high quality underwater footage, roller coaster POV and kid reactions while on them, family fun and just anything my mind comes up with.Don’t harp on the small drawbacks but think more of what this video camera can offer in such a tiny tiny footprint. They also continue to release firmware updates.

Amazing. Just Amazing!
As soon as you have the box in your hands, you know that you've got some high-quality stuff. The box is weighty with the coolness and class that's inside. Okay, so I'm impressed with the box-- it's a nice hard side presentation box that contains the headphones safely stored inside in a padded zipper enclosure, custom made to fit the Bose headphones. It comes with a well laid-out instruction book, that is easy to read and not super tiny print like are included with some devices. To set it up, first, you need to download the Bose Music app to your phone. It's available in Android or Apple, so no matter which side of the phone street you're on, you're good. It doesn't say anything about Windows OS phones, so you're kind of on your own there. Once you get past the first two pages which have clear pictures and English instructions, you've got 6 pages of other languages with the same to instructions. Install the app, press the power / Bluetooth button. I'm guessing the app will have more instructions.it's kind of a good thing the picture shows the location of the power button because the buttons blend in pretty good with the main body of the headphones and aren’t labeled well. That lends to the overall cool look of the headphones, but it makes it a little more difficult for older folks that use bifocals like me to find the button for the first time. When you have the headphones on a pleasant woman’s voice comes on, and tells you which device you're connected to, in this case, my phone. It's easy to connect the Bose headphones to your telephone using the app. Probably just as easy or easier than any other Bluetooth. The Bose advertising or description of the app says that it's a one-touch program for all of your music. However, the app is very simplistic and seems to exist only to connect your to phone to the headphones. Even though it says that there's some sort of a free music program that comes with it, I see no way to access this music program, called TuneIn. A search of Google play found an app called TuneIn that specializes in podcast NFL broadcast and music, along with audio ads. So, to me, it sounds like live radio that you can listen to through the headphones. Isn't that what Pandora and Spotify already do?That aside, the sound response on these is phenomenal, which you would expect on a product with the name Bose on it. They are comfortable to wear, adjust to your head easily and even though they're noise-canceling you can still hear through them. When I first put them on I noticed that all of the normal background noises in the house where severely dissipated. You can still hear some of them, I guess it depends on the frequency of the sound. I can hear wifey clearly, but not the fan noise from the air conditioning. Using the headphones to answer a telephone call is a very good experience. It was a much clearer phone call wearing headphones than it was with my normal telephone response. They have several built-in microphones in the headphones for the noise canceling, and they pick up your voice with no problems whatsoever. The person on the other end of the phone call said that they could hear me much more clearly than normal. Again, Bose audio stands up to their phenomenal reputation.I'm a little disappointed in the contents of the instruction book, no matter how easy it was to read. I've never had a higher-end headphone set before and instructions really aren't intuitive. In playing around with it I figured out that you could pause function of the headphones and turn them off with some of the side buttons and then referring to a small insert piece that was in the package [that I has laid aside without reading] I discovered that you could change the volume by stroking up and down on the right side. You can hook these up directly to your stereo or whatever your audio source with the included male to male wired audio jack. Run time on these batteries is amazing, without charging it up, and using only the charge that came on them I've been playing with it for over an hour so far and I still have 5 hours plus of battery. I found that out by touching and holding the right side. The same female voice from the setup that tells you when you're connected also tells you how much battery time you have left. After a little searching online, I downloaded the full manual from the Bose website. This included a troubleshooting section which advised me to uninstall and reinstall the Bose music control program to fix a lot of problems. I did that, and went through the setting up of a Bose account and allowing permissions to the phone. I don't really understand why it needed location permissions, [and permission to everything but the kitchen sink] but a lot of apps these days want to know everything. Once I got the new version of the app installed, everything proceeded a lot smoother. After you get everything set up, inside the app are manual settings for the noise reduction, allowing you to set your three favorite levels, settings for the volume of the headphones themselves, and volume of the little notification voice. You can interface this with Alexa or Google, but I haven't gone down that rabbit-hole yet. Inside the app, again once you set everything up --but you can't see anything in the settings until you set the darn thing up and register it. Then, you’ll see there's a tutorial-- step-by-step telling you all about the headphones. Explaining the touch gestures on the side of the headset. I got to admit that part is pretty darn cool. Being able to adjust volume, answer the phone, activate your Google or Alexa, even accept or decline phone calls. I'm guessing it has some sort of a touchpad type thing built into the plastic of the side of the headphones. After wearing these and listening to music as I went about the normal household chores, I was shocked to see I’d been wearing them for almost 2 hours! These aren’t heavy at all and are quite comfortable to wear. Furthermore, it was a bit of a change to hear all the normal house background noise. These do work well at canceling the drone of small noises we hear all the time and stop noticing after a while. So, are these worth the bug bucks? Normally I’d say no just because of the cost, but these are really a great set of headphones. From what I can see, Bose is the best at what they do, and look cool doing it.Thanks for reading my lengthy review!

Portable 360 Power with decent quality.
I’ve shot 360 images for years with a traditional fisheye lens/tripod setup, phone, and drone. This was my first foray into a dedicated 360 camera and 360 video. I’ve waited this long because this was the first camera that had an acceptable intersection of size, price, and image quality. Some of the contenders are smaller and cheaper but I wanted better image quality, especially in low light. I more or less got what I wanted.Since my primary use is still photography well talk about that first. With two 1 inch sensors vs more cell phone sized sensors of action cams there was a promise of vastly improved image quality. To some degree that is realized, mainly under poor lighting conditions. If your out on bright sunny day you will see improvements in dynamic range and color fidelity, but nothing is going to scream out that “this was taken on a 1 inch sensor!”.When the light gets low the bigger sensors do make a difference. I was able to get pretty good urban night shots with lots of glowy lights in them.If look at image quality and resolution of a reframed picture (where you only look at a portion of the image as a regular flat picture) and compare to other cameras (even a high end smartphone) it comes out on bottom. If you want to take a picture of a building or statue with conventional framing other tools will do it better. What you do get is the ability to take a picture of the whole plaza/courtyard and then reframe the picture of the statue out of it later. For “I was here” shots the quality is usable. The “snapshot” exports as they are called in the software are ok for, well snapshots, not methodical wonderful photos. It does export them at a high (21mp) resolution which is kind of a waste because the quality is not there to justify the pixel count. What you do get it for is 360 photosphere type photos. To that end it works well. The sharpness and overall quality of the image is not what you would get if you used a DSLR/Mirrorless camera, a specialty lens, a tripod and dedicated stitching and photo processing software. But you get a nice 360 image without having to buy, carry and learn to use all of the above. You will need a selfie stick and some tabletop sized tripod legs (I got the insta360 version of both and they work great). All of that can fit into a cargo pocket and be assembled and ready to go in under 30 seconds (I added 2 Falcam F22 quick release mounts to my setup). That is perhaps the cameras greatest strength, it can do in seconds without much thought what used to take minutes and concentration to not screw up. When your hot and tired this is a huge difference between getting a picture vs not bothering or messing it up.After you get your photo the fun begins. You will probably want to use the Insta360 app which works pretty well at this point. If you connect your camera to your phone you can preview your photos in 360 degree glory without having to download them. If you find one you like you can download it to the phone and post a JPG to social media in under 30 seconds. Pretty handy for sharing the vacation in real time. The processing it does to the jpg is pretty good.Once you get back home and use the “Studio” version of the software you can get better image quality out of it. The photo processing power of the program is pretty good. Sensor ISO Noise is very well controlled at any ISO, though at the cost of some sharpness. For those looking to squeeze out the best image quality you can shoot up to a 9 shot HDR bracket. With the studio app you can export those into 9 RAW files and do your HDR merge in your favorite software or have it do the HDR merge and output it into one expanded range RAW file. I’ve not seen huge differences in the final output of either solution, they both work well. It also has its “pureshot” technology. This is basically an in camera HDR and automatic processing to an individual file to maximize the dynamic range and look. Its comparable to what you would get if you imported the RAW file into lightroom or photoshop and hit AUTO. It does a pretty good job. Jpegs taken from a “pureshot” raw file are very usable and take some effort to beat in lightroom. One gotcha with 3rd party processing. When you output from lightroom or photoshop it will strip the metadata that makes the picture get recognized as a 360 image, so when you send it off to social media you may end up with a flat mess. You will need some other utility or method to add the 360 metadata back in.Speaking of use on social media, the Facebook compression really robs the picture of what it could be. I compare images that I put on FB to what the images look like on full screen and much was lost in terms of size and compression artifacts. So I would not judge this camera by the images you see there. If all your going to be doing is FB this camera might be overkill and something smaller and more robust would probably do a better job for that use case.Ok, so lets talk video. 360 video is cool, it gives you two advantages. If you leave it in a 360 video format and have the right player you can go back and “look” around your video after the fact. If your driving down a street you can virtually turn your head and look at the houses on either side. Really cool. But sharing such video can be problematic. Youtube does an ok job with those files. Facebook will let you share them but its blurry mess for image quality after their compression. Editing can also be a challenge. The Insta360 studio will output the video but you have no way to edit the sound or trim clips, add text, adjust color etc. You’ll need another editor capable of handling and exporting 360 video. The output quality of the 360 video is fair, not great. Its good enough that your not going to be always distracted by the compression artifacts, but if you look for them you will find them pretty quickly. When shooting in low light it gets really soft, but at least you get something.NOTE: If you are looking at output of this camera on Youtube be sure you set your video quality to max. The actual on screen image quality is better than Youtube’s compression.More commonly what it does is it lets you reframe the video. So going down the street you can have the camera look to the left for a while, the switch to the right for a while, then look forward. You don’t “miss” anything because the camera wasn’t pointed the right way. In this mode you can also zoom in to a limited degree. The output of the reframed video in HD is better. Its on par with a previous generation action camera. A current generation gopro will beat it when the light is good. But its good enough. If you know exactly what you want to record an action cam or something better would be the right tool, but if you want options or to get some creative looking shots this works. The stabilization is top notch, you can spin the thing in any direction and your framing doesn’t change and the horizon remains level. It reduces but does not eliminate the side to side sway when you walk. Also at night when the shutter speed really slows down you will get more vibrational distortion from walking.Again you’ll need a selfie stick, which it does a pretty good job of making disappear in the final video. Its fun because you can do weird and spontaneous stuff you couldn’t do with other cameras. So those are the pro’s. There are a few cons, more depending on your use case. For starters the huge double fisheye lens must be handled with care, drop this sucker and your gonna cry. Compared to some of the other 360 action cameras this thing is huge and heavy. The weight may not seem to be a big deal till your carrying it on the end of a lever (ie selfie stick) for a few minutes and your wrist starts to feel it.Getting images onto your computer is pain, you must take the thing apart to get at the memory card. You can plug it straight in and copy images that way. To do that you have to turn the camera on, and once its connected to the computer it won’t turn off, even if you unplug it, so you have to pull it apart (disconnect battery) or it will remain on and drain your battery to zero. Annoying.Speed is another factor. From the time you press the button the shot isn’t instantly taken (they do have burst mode). And the shot to shot lag while it processes is significant. For a regular photo it takes about 4-5 seconds before you can shoot again. For a HDR photo your unit will be locked up for 30 seconds processing it out before its ready to go again.Battery life is ok even for a few hours of intensive on and off use, but if you’re going to be running it all day you will need extras or an external charger. You have to take care when taking the lens cover on and off, its super easy to get some smudges on the lens. Also the lens cover collects lint in your pocket. Bring a lens cloth and clean the lenses regularly. Especially if you are shooting at night. While its in the same space as action cameras it is NOT an action camera. Its size and weight make it awkward at best to try and mount on helmet or other body part. It is not waterproof, if it hits the ground say goodbye to expensive glass and its probably going to spontaneously disassemble. Its also 2x the price of other 360 “action” cams. Which is more money you probably don’t want to risk.ConclusionThis camera is for is for people who have some time to get the shot and want to get the best shot possible with gear that they can still pocket. If image quality is worth compromising cost, size and durability this is the one. It’s a great “tourist” camera for walking into an impressive building, a canyon, winding city streets or other areas where you are surround close in by the scenery. Sure you could get some impressive expanses of a desert or the great plains, but the wide angle look doesn’t do that scenery justice. I would not make this my only camera when going on a trip, but it’s a tool that lets you do things you could not do before and catch things after the fact you missed when you were there.

Very Good Monitor - Simple and Easy to Setup and U
Baby monitors...one of the items parents spend a lot of time looking into and easily getting frustrated about. Should I get sound only, a video monitor, wifi enabled, FHSS or smart features? Take some time and decide what features best fit your needs before you register or buy a product you might end up hating down the road.We decided right off the bat that we wanted video capabilities so that filtered us down to FHSS systems or wifi based smart cameras. I will say right off the bat both have their pros and cons and I want to explain them a little before I give a review of the product because those reasons are why we went with this product. If you do go with a wifi enabled smart camera (Nest, Arlo etc) I recommend getting a camera that is designed for babies in mind. We got the Arlo Baby and really liked it because it was really designed for a nursery with climate warnings (tempature, humidity, pollution), crying and motion alarms, two-way talk, night light, music, and easily paired to my Alexa devices. Then of course being connected to wifi so that I could see the nursery from anywhere on my smart phone via the app.BUT, there are some downsides to wifi cameras like these. More spotty connectivity. If the internet goes down so does the camera. Hacking concerns (really did not concern me) if privacy is your issue and for me what became my biggest issue was network setup. I am a pretty tech savvy person and I had a lot of trouble getting this onto my network for reasons I still don't understand (Apple's HomeKit might be the culprit...though I don't use their HomeKit). But this also means if you travel...maybe for the holidays to the in-laws, in order for this camera to work you have to get it setup onto their wifi network. No Wi-Fi, no camera. Wifi pairing issues? No camera. Or maybe you're going to have your parents watch the baby for a day or two. In order for them to access the camera they need to download the app and either login into you account or you have to set them up as an authorized user. Parents don't have a smart phone? No camera. So I LOVE this camera for at home, even with the occasional signal issues and I think smart cameras are fantastic in the long term for the nursery especially as the baby gets older and is moving. But when you're dealing with a newborn and an infant having something that is easily setup in a matter of seconds that works is really beneficial.Enter this review. I was very close to going with the Infant Optics DXR-8. If you've looked at any reviews you will see it consistently at the top of the list. It's been around for awhile and is the go-to monitor in the mid-price range. But in a few review websites I saw the Eufy win out and it got me curious. If feels like a direct competitor to the DXR-8, with the same price and from what I can tell nearly identical features and IMO some improvements. Both are closed networks using FHSS which is more reliable than wifi. So check for both. BUT DXR-8 runs on a 2.4Ghz and I've read that this can cause interference issues if you're running other devices on your 2.4Ghz wifi. Just something to think about. Both have cameras that can pan and tilt. Eufy wins on pan (330 vs 270 degrees) and DXR-8 wins on tilt (110 vs 120 degrees)Both have attachable wide angle lenses and can zoom in. The DXR-8 wins on range at 700ft. BUT with 460ft in the Eufy I have no issues in a medium sized house (two story, 2400sqft).Both have night vision which is critical. Both also have very similar features like temperature readings and alerts. I honestly don't really care about either and it's not a deal breaker regardless. So where does the Eufy outshine the DXR-8? The monitor and screen. the DXR-8 is 3.5" and the resolution is only 240p. For as much praise as the DXR-8 gets that resolution surprised me. Some won't care but I like to watch my kid breathing since he's a stomach sleeper and I'm irrationally paranoid about SIDS. After watching several user reviews I was just overall disappointed with the screen quality of the DXR-8. The Eufy however boasts a much larger 5" screen with a 720p resolution. It's not as clear as a smart phone per say but it is very nice and that screen size really helps. User navigation and design is also much simpler and cleaner on the Eufy. Overall product design is just much cleaner as well. Then there is battery life, the one consistent complaint I've read about the DXR-8. They boast 6 hrs of on-screen mode and 10 hrs in power saving mode. Most friends I know who use the DXR-8 get no more than 4 hours and are on their second or third battery. Honestly they look like the cheap lithium ions I put in my mini drone. I can't comment on the quality of the Eufy battery and the one downside is it's not user replaceable. But it claims to have a battery life of 7 hours display and 15 hours in power saving mode. and as of now I've read no complaints to indicate similar battery issues at the DXR-8.If you want a smart app features, or the ability to record then Eufy is not the camera for you. This camera is about simplicity and at this point it's absolutely perfect. I just need something to watch my kid and let me know he's awake, asleep or not in distress. There is ZERO SETUP. Plug them in and instantly paired....which makes travel a breeze. I've experienced almost no lag or connection issues and compared to most dedicated video monitors this has one of the better screens I've seen.If I have issues I will update this review, but for now I highly recommend this camera and give it the edge IMO over the DRX-8 if you are on the fence about them like I was.EDIT 7/21: both camera still work very well. Eufy has remained my primary. I still enjoy the Arlo a lot and I believe a firmware update helped solve my connection issues. Eufy is still the easier one to connect since it isn’t smart. The big downer on my Arlo smart camera…a lag of about 10-20 seconds. That lag wasn’t quite as significant when I first bought it. Food for thought.

Noise Pollution Solution
The good news is I live in a rent-stabilized apartment in NYC. The bad news is I live in a rent-stabilized apartment in NYC where I am besieged by every kind of noise. The worst offenders: a large clanking steam radiator; upstairs neighbors clomping around in hard-sole shoes on a bare hard-wood floor; construction noises next door and down the block; plus the usual assortment of horn honks and blaring sirens from vehicles on the avenue two doors over. For some years, I have used the Marsonic travel white noise machine (around $80), which was the best unit I auditioned at Hammacher-Schlemmer at the time. It offered excellent sound and admirable volume, especially for such a small device, plus two sounds, waterfall and ocean, with a tone control. But I was interested when I heard about Adaptive Sound's first machine, the one that sells for $300. Unfortunately that price busts my budget, so I was delighted to discover that their new machine, the Duet (now known as the Sound + Sleep), sells for one-third the price. What is their exclusive adaptive technology? Well, it is NOT a phase-inversion technology, as used in noise-cancelling headphones. In other words, the machine doesn't make intrusive sounds disappear. What it DOES do is pump up the white noise volume almost instantaneously to mask intrusive sounds, a surprisingly effective technique. The S+S still couldn't hide the clanking radiator -- at least in waterfall mode -- but I will try again tonight with "Meditation" mode -- a steady midrange drone that a yoga class would appreciate. The S+S did, however, make the footfalls upstairs disappear, as well as the construction and street noises. That beats the Marsonic by a mile!Otherwise the unit is very well designed and built, with excellent sound provided by a separate woofer and tweeter mounted on top. A microphone in the front panel listens for room sound and makes immediate adjustments. I tested this by dropping an earplug case on the counter by the machine, and it responded instantly with a roar of white noise. The sounds provided are of excellent quality. Unlike lesser units, which typically use a recording that keeps repeating and soon proves annoying, these recordings -- the manufacturer calls them "sound stories" -- go on for thirty minutes before repeating. You can spice these aural environments up with "richness" -- random sounds that give the "sound stories" more authenticity, like birds chirping by the brook or sitar shrieks and percussion effects in meditation mode. Fortunately, you can also turn them off for when you're sleeping.I like the selection of sounds provided. They have been well chosen for their restfulness -- I found the brook putting me to sleep as I was sitting at my desk yesterday afternoon -- and the variety allows you to find a "sound story" with frequencies appropriate to the most intrusive noises in your environment. The one sound that amused me was "city" -- that's the environment from which I'm trying to escape! Maybe if you're a refugee from the city living in the country, however, you would appreciate this one! Otherwise, I enjoy the meadow, the brook, the crackling fireplace, the train, waterfall, ocean -- and meditation. There also is a plain vanilla white noise setting, which I imagine psychotherapists will use in their waiting rooms. The machine also includes an output that lets you play the sounds through your stereo. It occurred to me that Ecotones could make a less expensive unit that dispenses with its own amplifier and speakers and just plays through your stereo. However, the sound quality of the S+S and the fact that it uses less electricity than my big rig justify a self-contained machine on my nightstand. So if you need help sleeping or concentrating in a noisy environment, you should audition the S+S. IMO it is the most effective (and cost-effective) white noise machine now on the market.UPDATE: ah, I tried the brook setting last night instead of waterfall, and -- I didn't hear a thing during the night. NO clanking radiator, NO footfalls upstairs, NO construction noises next doors. I slept like a babe. The moral of the story is: try different sound settings to see which ones mask the intrusive noises in your environment. The S+S could soon become the city dweller's best friend, surpassing even small dogs and local pizza vendors...UPDATE NUMBER TWO: the S+S is missing one useful feature: visual or aural confirmation of the volume setting. Because it uses "higher" and "lower" buttons to raise or lower the volume, you can't even tell by the position of a knob where the volume is set.Because the sound stories seem to play back at different volumes relative to one another, you might want to crank up the volume for one and then turn it back down for another. When you return to your favorite sound story for sleeping, for example, you may not have the volume setting that you know from experience you need. The solution would be a numeric readout or aural confirmation, like a female voice saying, "Level Five" when you adjust the volume. At any rate, the S+S is still a fine white noise machine, and I hope Ecotone incorporates volume confirmation into future models.UPDATE NUMBER THREE: the S+S has just met and overcome its toughest challenge. They're building a 10-story residential building right next to mine, and the ear-splitting cacophony starting at seven in the morning is truly enough to wake the dead. Pounding, hammering, sawing, and swearing... two by fours and metal beams and pipes dropping... I don't know if this construction crew is trying to get their revenge on what they mistakenly perceive as the one percent here in Manhattan, but they're certainly giving it their all.The S+S couldn't meet the challenge in a standalone mode, but I plugged it into my stereo, cranked up the volume of the bubbling brook until it sounded like Noah's flood - and drifted back to sleep. The adaptive technology reacted instantaneously to every hammer blow and buzz saw. All I hear is a loud whoosh of water, along with crickets and birds chirping. If it weren't for this wonderful white noise machine, I fear to think what acts of civil disobedience I might have committed to cope with the bedlam next door.Again, I can't recommend the Sound and Sleep highly enough to anyone under even the most extreme sonic assault!UPDATE NUMBER FOUR: Whoa, my experience with the S+S has just gotten even better. As I write this latest update in January of 2018, I have had the machine for some nine years. Recently, I noticed some strange sounds on two of my favorite soundscapes, notably an occasional buzzing sound, like a door buzzer, on the rain setting.Unfortunately, this buzz was loud and disconcerting, so I wrote the manufacturer ASTI a note asking if it could be caused by dust in the controls or a deteriorating circuit or what. I also said I would probably buy a new unit if this one needed to go in for repairs, as I can't sleep without it.To my amazement, the company said they would send me a refurbished unit at no charge. Sure enough, two days later I received a refurbished machine that looks and works just like new. Now is that going the extra mile to satisfy a customer, or what?So now I can say that ASTI's service is as good as their product, and that, in my experience, is a very rare thing in this day and age!PROS:* Adaptive technology actively counters intrusive noises.* Separate woofer and tweeter for high-quality sound.* Each "sound story" runs a full thirty minutes before repeating.* Selectable "richness" sounds give sound stories more realism, texture.* Sleep timer plus switch to turn off LED lights at night.* Output enabling you to run white noise through your stereo to overpower even the loudest noise.* Sound stories well chosen for restfulness.CONS:* Could use some means of showing relative volume settings.* Not the cheapest white noise machine, but likely one of the best.
