Canon EOS 40D 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)









UPDATE: I figured out how to get the best image performance from my 40d. I had been shooting in Landscape mode, which kicks the "Sharpness" level up a couple of notch's that was causing the high noise level. After decreasing the sharpness level to "2", the ISO noise was greatly diminished! The reddish images were a result of the WB being set to Auto by default. After changing the WB to Daylight, my shots look more natural.ORIGINAL POST:I bought this camera because I wanted to upgrade from my RebelXT thinking there would be a major improvement in image quality; and after reading the stellar reviews here. The first thing I noticed after the first couple of shot was that images shot with the 40d were redder than the XT. I then noticed very high ISO noise levels on settings above ISO 200! I could not believe this, so I took some test shots with my XT and compared them to the 40D. To my surprise, the images shot with the XT at ISO-1600 looked better than the 40d images shot at ISO-200! In the 40d menu, I verified that Long Exposure Noise Reduction, and High ISO speed Noise Reduction were enabled. I really like the feel of the 40d, but to me, I need a camera that's going to produce virtually noise free images up to ISO-800. The 40d is a huge disappointment.

I had wanted this camera for a long time and I finally bought one earlier this year. It is an awesome camera. It performs best at 100 iso, but needs a bit of noise reduction after that. Great camera for sports and action with the 6.5fps. This would be a good buy for someone wantin to upgrade bodies for a low price.

I purchased this action camera for a scuba diving trip in Aruba and it worked perfectly with the diving mode. Video came out awesome.

These are awesome for connecting to my action camera media mode and capturing mic's snowboarders. I can hear the snow and grunts and people talking to each other.

First of all: the picture quality (4k) in daylight is excellent. A real minus is that the exposure is always in automatic mode regardless your ISO choice. And according to their support there's no solution to this problem. Akaso's support is fast and honest. They do not recommend a firmware update and a factory reset doesn't change a thing.The image correction to get rid of the fisheye effect works very well. The EIS is not so hot.The under water case is waterproof and didn't cause any problems so far.Overall the camera is a good buy but the ISO thing costs a star.

I've just received the product about one week ago. It's a great product for its price for sure, no doubt. The quality of the picture is the only thing that I disliked. Though keep in mind, it IS an action camera so the 4k quality setting of an action camera will not be like the quality of a $500 Nikon. It doesn't have focus or anything like that, which is expected for an action camera. It would be nice to have a video mode that mirrored that of a $500 Nikon but it is not expected for this camera as it is an action camera. I have not tested the waterproof casing up to 30m yet but I plan to take the camera on a diving expedition. If the case fails, I will be following this thread. In general I am very satisfied and surprised at the quality for such a low priced camera!

It fits well and does it's job. if you are in manual mode make sure you pump up the ISO.

The action camera is fantastic. It also has a flip mode that allows you to hang the camera upside down. I only wish there was a way to mute the sound recording.
