Excellent quality for the money
I needed a ball head that could support a good deal of weight but not weigh a lot. These specs usually mean an expensive big name ball head. I’ll be shooting in macro soon and don’t want to carry heavy gear. Even though I prefer a gimbal head I still wanted something I could throw in the camera bag as back up. The reviews on this ball head were great so I was skeptical...until I received mine. This Sinnofoto R1 ball head is easily as good as any expensive big name ball heads I had to save up money to buy. It’s rock steady under a heavy load and has an incredible range of motion. It’s beautifully machined and just as nice to look at as it is to use. The name Sinnofoto is completely new to me but now they have a new fan with me. I’ll keep an eye out for more products with the Sinnofoto name on them and hopefully those other products are just as impressive. I’ll be bragging to my photographer friends about the R1 as well as recommending it.

Good quality light weight tripod, the head is so-s
Excellent light weight tripod. The included head is not very useful- you should unscrew it from the tripod in a counter-clockwise direction and then carefully place it in the trash can. Its lousy. Its not even worth trying to resell since its only worth about $10 used. The tripod is good for use with a spotting scope. It packs up compact and is light enough to carry in your pack yet not so light that its flimsy and unstable. If you plan to use a spotting scope you will need to get a good head to attach, the included ball mount head is just too floppy and not what you need for spotting. Its a pretty decent set of legs for the money. You can spend more for heavier duty legs or spend less for legs that arent this stable. I think this is a solid set of legs if you plan to carry legs, head, and spotter around in a hunting pack all day.

Good heavy duty ball head.
I mounted a Richie small fishing boat compass on my Palmer Twosome electric cart using the ODWARF R1 ball head. The camera mount worked out great after figuring out how to attach it to the 7/8" diameter handle bar. The wieght of the compass is about 5 pounds, but the rating of the ball mount is 39 pounds. The handle bar shakes a lot and at first the tightening points came loose, but after about a week of constant finger tightening, it has held the compass strong and straight. The base plate on the mount should be thicker to make it stronger for unconventional uses.

Totally impressed.
Can't say enough about this little tripod. For the price? Wow.Sturdy and solid. Love that each leg moves and extends separately to accommodate unlevel surfaces. The head also rolls on a ball just like the big daddy's.This lil puppy is going with me to Europe.

Stability ensured.
Wobbly tripod heads are a pain, the Vanguard seems very stable so far, easily lockable, and the ability to level and do panoramas without the bulk and expense of a panoramic head is a great advantage. The quick release is not very quick but the camera is firmly locked in place and as it is Arca Swiss compatible there is scope for additional gizmos to fit the bracket. This head scored 89/100 in the Advanced Photographer roundup of ball heads (the Arca Swiss scores 97/100 but costs £312 so this represents good value).

Very good build quality compared to the last mini
Very good build quality compared to the last mini tripod I owned. The ball locks properly and the legs don't collapse while your camera is on the tripod.

Just like the tripod by the same manufacturer I bought, I cannot say enough good things about this ball head. Extremely well built, very precise. It is a little heavy, because it's big (you can buy a smaller, lighter version), but it holds my D7100 and any of my lenses, and adjusts with solid precision. highly recommended product.
