When I first opened the packaging, I was unsure of the sound machine. It’s very lightweight and feels pretty flimsy compared to the skip hop portable owl sound machine. After using it for the first time, I can see it’s not flimsy at all. It’s a pretty powerful sound machine. It has the ring which allows you to attach it to the stroller or car seat. There are different volume settings and it can get pretty loud. The best feature in my humble opinion is the fact that it’s rechargeable! I put the skip hop on my registry because it was a registry “fave”. While it’s nice and easy to carry around, it uses up a lot of battery. It requires 3 AAA batteries which I don’t normally have lying around the house. Once the battery on that is dying, it will stop playing white noise and starts playing a musical melody. I use the Hatch sound machine in my bedroom but didn’t want to keep moving it around the house for naps during the day. So this is where the portable sound machine comes in. I can use it in the nursery, living room, kitchen, and on the go without needing to worry about battery life. It charges quickly at night when we switch over to the Hatch.

I cannot recommend this more highly. We use this thing all throughout the day and don’t leave home without it! Our baby definitely calms down when this is on. And it stays charged for a LONG time. In hindsight I’d like to have a 2 pack, so I could switch them out while it charges.

I have used this often when trying to get my baby to sleep anywhere beside her bedroom (where we have a plug-in noise machine). Also took it on vacation and it ran all night as her noise buffer in the hotel room. Really good output and one charge lasts several hours.
