Excellent for reading
Purchased the lamp for my 95 year old mother in law who was having difficulty reading, especially with small text. This lamp made a huge improvement in her vision. The 5000K color setting is very bright and the best for reading. We may purchase one for us also.

We have owned two Verilux lamps (one floor, and one desk lamp) for years. My old art studio was where I used them the most, although my husband stole them from time to time. We have moved recently, and I have a new art studio. My husband suggested that I get two new Verilux lamps (because he wanted the old ones for his workshop).I love these lamps. As an artist, I want as much natural light as possible. These have the option of using adjustable light brightness as in warm, cool, or soothing. (You can see a bit of change in the photos). The touchpad is easy to use and you can define the brightness as needed.If you are any sort of crafter, painter, jeweler, work on models, etc. I highly recommend these lamps.Note: We had an issue with the pole and base. Verilux support stayed in contact with us and resolved the problem to our satisfaction. Super customer service!

Very well designed & fabricated for ease in assemb
I am 82 yrs & an avid gardner but not that much of a DYI’er when it comes to “construction.” This standing lamp is beautifully designed & fabricated for logical assembly and balance.I’ve a very handy son 2 miles away, plus 2 capable grandsons and my only concern in assembling this myself was it IS “weighty” - but that’s part of the built-in quality. It would have been easier with 2 but it is very “doable” by one with a safe place to lay it on its side to assemble, then stand up.It is plenty bright and the 3 degrees (types) of illumination are uniquely useful in ways I am still discovering.With aging, despite helpful cataract surgery, I increasingly appreciate good quality & controllable lighting. This lamp offers that.I will definitely consider other Verilux-made products in my future.Heads-up: fill out the warranty prior to discarding the (sturdy) boxing with the box. The warranty info you need is on the box, not the lamp - and not that obvious labeleled there. It is my only recommendation to Verilux - make that info more overt vs discrete.
