This is just what you need so you aren't digging around for your "lost" phone in the car. It's easy to install and does exactly what it's suppose to do! Easy to use ! Will be ordering more !

Greatest magnet mount ever!. Placed the included metal plate inside a thick phone case. No problem holding a Samsung S9 Plus firmly in place. Would be interesting to see how tightly the magnet would hold if the metal plate were placed on the outside of the case. I can't comment on the vent clip attachment as I mounted the magnet to a different mounting attachment.
