I've been a long time user of Sony Handycams and I was excited to upgrade a new camera. Sony's video quality has always been something I'm impressed with. I've stuck with them for about 17 years now.First off, I was surprised at how light the camcorder is. It doesn't feel heavy at all, sometimes people associate lightness with it being cheap in quality. In my opinion, it still feels pretty solid. I also like that I'm able to charge from the USB cable that's tucked away in to the strap. Nice unexpected feature!I love that Sony has switched from proprietary memory cards to Micro SD cards. These come so cheap nowadays that you can get a 32gb micro SD card that can handle a couple of hours of HD video.I still am rating the CX405 with 5 stars because for the price and quality that you get, it's fantastic. I wish the CX405 could have some apps like slow motion or any of the others that you can get with the Sony Nex cameras. But for simple point and record needs with solid HD video recording, this is a great little camera!My purposes are simple, I need a camcorder that's light, takes good quality video with good sound. The CX405 does a good job at this. I won't be shooting the next big Hollywood blockbuster with the camcorder (unless it's like a sequel to The Blair Witch Project). But it will capture my travel trips and family events just fine.I've had a number of Handycam cameras for my amateur needs. Sony has always done a great job on making tough, unassuming camcorders. I've put all of them through the wringer and with some of them being 15+ years old, they still work today! My only reasons for upgrading is that the technology continually improves. Great little camera that won't break your budget.

I have one inside my chicken coop. It helps me keep track of who's laying or if there's any bullying going on (and because they're just fun to watch lol) I have a total of 4 Zumimall cameras around my property. The night vision is a great feature and works well. Another plus, unlike that well known brand, a subscription is not necessary to use with these cameras, they have a continuous live feed and all you need to keep/store your videos is a micro SD card (I use a 32GB)

I got this for one of my nieces and am so excited to give it to her. It is a step nicer than some of the other children's cameras. It has a slightly larger screen at 2.4 inches and also comes with a SD card to be able to hold more pictures. I'm going to charge it before I wrap it so it is ready to go when she opens it.

Sweet little lights! Just the right amount of light for dark corners. Grandkids love there bathroom light trail :)

It works. The pics are clear. For twenty eight bucks from Walmart I can afford several and have several of these cameras. Not sure about the bad reviews, mine have worked consistently season after season. They have proved more reliable than the moreexpensive brands I have tried. No bells or whistles, just a quality camera.Edit: Just checked one of my cameras after almost a year in the field. Over 4,000 pics on 16gb sd card and it took my pic as I walked up to the camera to change batteries and card.

The biggest pro to this unit is it comes with anything you need! SD card, batteries, mounting options, even a screen built in to check things! By not needing to buy separate things it add huge value to this unit! This is being used to check out critters in the back yard mainly. It may move out to a trail, but I just do not trust someone randomly finding it and taking it, or me forgetting where it is! ha The build quality looks good on it, and seems to be weather tight for normal stuff. I am not testing soaking it in water though, but for sure handles rain and snow!

We have a lot of car theft in my area so I keep them facing my cars. It detects the slightest movements so it does send a lot of notifications, but you can control that in the settings. Also doesn’t have the night vision red light that a lot of other cameras have, so it’s really easy to hide at night too. You don’t have to pay for storage on the app as long as you buy SIM cards for the cameras, which again, we love! Only bad thing so far is that sometimes it glitches so it’ll show someone walking through the trees like a ghost haha, but that’s about it so far.

I would have given this item five stars for the first three months -- worked great during that time. Then it developed an annoying loud buzzing sound instead of the selected sound. Adaptive sound volume was quite useful but now the unit is totally useless and prevents sleep rather than assisting in covering ambient sounds. The sound circuitry has obviously failed, although the unit was treated with great care and never left the table top next to the bed. Too late to return via Amazon, so I'm looking to get a replacement from the manufacturer.Review revised 2/1/16: Changed from one star to five stars. Contacted the company regarding the problem. Apparently there was a bad batch of SD cards for sleep machines with a range of specific serial numbers causing this problem. A replacement SD card will be sent with instructions at no charge and the warranty will be extended two additional years. The replacement SD card will have a lifetime warranty. I'm looking forward to getting this wonderful machine back in service soon.
