Baby monitors have changed so much in the last few decades. This is a far cry from the walkie talkie versions of the past.The Mika monitor was shipped quickly and packaged impressively for gift giving; no plastic clamshell here. This is by far the most modern and lux looking product to give parents peace of mind for monitoring the baby and the anti-hacking security.It comes very well organized with simplistic directions for even the most non DIY person right down to step by step pictures including a pencil! You won’t have to dig through the junk drawer to get this device up and running.The technology is super easy to connect to your phone and tablet (I recommend a tablet for a larger picture) even for the most technophobe. The video quality is comparable to my HD TV, the 2 way audio and the night vision are very convenient features. You can monitor things you never even knew you wanted like room temperature and humidity; and vitals without having to physically connect something to your baby. Customer service is prompt and friendly, no long wait times or hard to understand directions. I had to call once I was all connected, it is not intuitive for an old fogie like me to get the unit to start with just the one button.My only critique would be that it is missing a zoom feature for the camera. Perhaps next years version will include that.Overall this is a must have for new parents with the delightful bonus that you can use HSA funds to purchase.

This monitor is truly the best. The range is impressive. It even allowed us to take the trash out (3 floors down and to the sidewalk). It seems like a lot of money, but you will use this until the baby is 4. Clear picture and great sound. You can even use it as a walkie talky to let small persons known they must stay in bed!

Right out of the box, I was very impressed with this baby monitor. Included in the package were: the monitor unit, a long charging cord, a short charging cord, the camera and its power cord, an additional lens for zoom/close up, and a screw with a drywall anchor for hanging. The picture quality is amazing and the sound is very clear. The night vision picture is bright and very easy to see. I've had other brands of baby monitor (Summer Infant & Motorola) with night vision that were too dark to see the baby clearly. This monitor is much higher quality than the other brands. The two way talk feature has a very clear sound. With other brands, my voice sounded far away, with a walkie talkie sound quailty. My voice sounds more like normal through this monitor. I absolutely love the ability to pan the angle of the camera. You can make it "look" all over the room, from floor to ceiling and all around. It has many features and settings which can be customized. There is a sleep timer for the screen display, a temperature reading, several volume levels, brightness control, and you can even set the volume of the warning beep when the battery is low or the camera is out of range. It seems like they've thought of everything in this baby monitor. I haven't found anything I don't like about it. Since I've only had the monitor a few days, I can't speak for the longevity of the unit or its battery life. I will update the review if the battery stops holding a charge or if anything malfunctions. So far, it seems to be the perfect baby monitor! I'm very happy with it.

I went to Best Buy recently and bought a Motorola baby monitor for about $20 less than this one. No pan or tilt function on that. Night vision was OK at best. Not even 720p HD (if it was the display certainly didn't look like it.) Then all of the sudden after about a week of use it started making high pitched noises, acting as if there was something loud going on. I said enough is enough and hopped on Amazon to buy something different. Delighted with what paying an extra $20 gets you.Pros: I now have virtually no blind spots in my daughter's room. 1080p HD on my smart phone's display. Night vision is leaps and bounds ahead of the Motorola model I purchased. No high pitched noises.Cons: Sometimes the camera has a hard time calibrating lighting. Once in a while the image on the display will have a purple tint like the camera doesn't know whether it wants night vision or not. (No big deal, still can see my kids just fine.) The "Talk" function which allows you to speak to your children through the camera has a pretty big lag, I find myself holding down the talk button and then waiting 2-3 seconds to speak, as opposed to a full walkie-talkie function like most other monitors. Lastly, as mentioned in the headline the display screen is honestly just not that good. The camera 'records' at 1080p but the display is almost just as bad as the Motorola model.The upside is that if you download the Vtech Baby 1080p app you get a much better, wider view on your smart phone or other device. Overall pleased with the product.

Neat little button. I'm not using it for its intended purpose, but it was cheap enough to buy to test it. :)I was looking for a hardware button to use as a Push-To-Talk switch for the Zello walkie-talkie app. This works perfectly.My only issue is by default, the button pairs as a "wireless keyboard" to my phone, and its two shutter switches map as VolumeUp and VolumeDown. So it does work to trip the PTT function in Zello, it overrides the phone's normal volume rocker switch (so whichever you select in Zello to use Up/down, that phone function will also trigger PTT. So you can't quite control your volume normally). Not a big deal, overall, just something to have to adapt to.I may install the Remote's app and see if that'll change the hardware mapping. Worth a shot, anyway :)Communication from the vendor has been great, and the package arrived quickly. If you're looking for a BT remote of some kind, give this thing a shot.

Amazing quality for its price! I would have thought it would be triple the price if my husband didn’t tell me how much it was. Super clear even on night vision mode. We have two facing outside and two inside the house. We also use the “walkie” part as I call it to speak to each other when we are in different rooms. We had an issue with the speaker not working on one of our cameras. Contacted the seller and the customer service was amazing. Super fast at resolving the issue. Had me trouble shoot first and once they realize it wasn’t user error I received a new replacement camera in a few days. They said the warranty is for one year!

We were looking to get a baby monitor that doesn’t need to connect to WiFi (after Hurricane Isaias, we didn’t have power for a week which prompted this search). What we didn’t expect was to get a monitor with audio AND visual outputs without the need of internet. The image is very clear and I like that the screen shuts off after a few minutes (to save battery). Another great feature is that you can move the camera (and zoom!) yourself (I haven’t seen many monitors with this) from the parent unit. The signal is pretty strong (perfect for a house with a few floors). Finally, having the convenience of a rechargeable battery is a huge win for us as we had to keep changing the batteries for an older walkie-talkie we had. Overall, happy with purchase and will not be using any other monitor.
