I was originally going to get the Audio Technica M50s. But after checking out both the M50s and M40x I simply saw more bang for the buck with the M40x. The sound in both is fantastic, however, the bass does hit a little harder on the M50s. The fact that the M40x are $30-$40 cheaper and come with two detachable cords outweighed the slight bass jump in the M50s for me. Also, the M40x are more comfortable to wear than the M50s in my opinion. You simply won't get better headphones for under $100!!

I have owned quite a few headphones but this is my first actual good quality headphones. Amazon delivered within a day, that too on standard free delivery! The sound clarity just blows my mind away.BuildVery sturdy plastic, ear cups are large and comfortable. They clamp down well and act as good passive noise cancellation.Sound qualityStunning, flat headphones just as advertised. I have always liked flat headphones so that I can hear the mix as it is. The musician knows his music best and naturally will mix it the way he wants us to hear. Bass response is amazing, it just sits at the back of sound like a wall. Bass should never be the highlight and the headphones do justice to it. It doesn't muddy the sound with extra bass. Mids are just crisp, vocals and guitars cut through very well. You can hear the subtle nuances of the singer and the guitarist as the mids are so clear. Treble is good as well but importantly not very harsh. I am hearing newer things on songs that I have listened to for years.LooksWell, they are okay looking, but who cares? Anyways if you want use headphones as an accessory and don't care about the sound, you are better off buying the overpriced Beats.ConOnly one, the detachable cables are proprietary, so you can't use just any standard male to male cable in case both the supplied cables wear out.

Just received these today and have been listening to them for the past two hours and they're absolutely amazing. I've often had a problem with headphones, especially closed back ones hurting after an extended period of time because I wear glasses, but not with these! Extremely comfortable, great sound, and look awesome. They make streaming music sound good and I tested out some of my tracks that I have in FLAC and OGG, and wow... It's a whole new world. These blow my Etymotic hf5's out of the water and they're nearly twice the price.Can't recommend these more!

If you like to listen to any kind of audio content when going to sleep/sleeping, but have a hard time with earmuff style headphones giving you a sore neck, or earbuds mashing into your ear canals/falling out, then these are the headphones you need.No wires to get tangled in or accidentally rip your music away.No pain in your ear or getting a stiff neck.Just a soft, slim headband that wirelessly delivers your audo content of choice through two soft and thin foam pads positioned over your ears inside the headband.I don't run, but I imagine they'd be great for winter running too.If you like to listen to stuff while you lounge in bed/sleep, YOU NEED THESE.

I've gone through so many headphones and considering my budget that wasn't a good decision but finally I've found them! The headphone that suit my needs perfectly, most other headphones made my jaw hurt and be usable for an hour but once these got worn in they became comfortable that I can actually use them! Sound is clear and perfect and really sturdy, not cheap material. I did get some plush new ear pads since the default were rough and a new cable since the original was too long for just music. All in all they became so amazing one I got the new mods and these quickly became my favorite headphones.

Clean, Crispy and Flat sound response. i would say better than it's bigger model m50x as it provides flat sound !Packaging and delivery was good !Thanks Amazon !

These headphones are absolutely amazing. I have never owned a pair of studio quality headphones, but I have always been very into listening to music. These are by far the best experience I have had with listening.First of all, the build is mostly plastic but it still feels very durable, like they aren't going to break if they get thrown around. Plus, the 90 degree range in motion comes in handy when you want to use them on the computer and they are laying on your desk. The audio cables are very high quality, and the attachment system is very durable as well. I have pulled on the cord, tightly, and there is no budge in the connection!The quality of sound is also very amazing. Like I said, I haven't owned a pair of studio monitoring headphones before. However, I can still hear things I was missing in songs that I've been listening to for years. I would say it sounds best when listening to EDM/Dubstep/House/Rock/Alternative music. If you are listening through your cell phone, make sure you go to your equalizer and turn off any previous settings that you have (bass, surround). I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and I just have it set to normal.All audio is very crisp and clear, and the bass (in my opinion) is at the perfect level. It doesn't sound drowned out at all, or over saturated.As for the comfort, it fits very well, mostly due to the range of motion. The padding is very soft and if you're sitting at desk listening to music, you will barely notice they are there. If you want to use them while working out, heat will build up in the ear cups, but that is going to happen with any headphones.Overall, this was $100 I'm glad I spent. If you have the money I would say invest in them. Especially if you haven't owned studio quality headphones before, like me. I hope this review was helpful to you.
