I'm a newbie so learning this tool has been an interesting challenge. I bought it to use as a tool and I'm very happy with the features that it offers

Yes, this covers the bands for FRS, GMRS, MURS, and Ham. (Not CB)No, you can't use it on any of that without understanding a few things...It's illegal to use on FRS, period, due to having a removable antenna. The wattage choices also make it a little tricky, but that makes little difference because of the first reason. It's illegal to use on GMRS and Ham, unless you go get those licences. Once you get them, you're good-to-go. If you already have them, I'm not telling you anything here you didn't (or shouldn't) already know. That being said and out of the way... Nice little HT. Light. So far pretty good battery life. I do recommend the suggested longer Nagoya NA-771 antenna.Pet peeve: I wish I could charge it with USB or something, like all the other items in my rig. As it stands the only choice is plugging it in to the supplied dock, and that dock runs off AC. If you're out and about, and don't have a converter, you're sunk. If you do, no worries, just... awkward. I think it also runs off AAs, but I haven't tried that yet. Like I said, just an annoyance, not a deal killer.

Typical Chinese programing but quality seems OK especially at this price point, will buy again, seems to be a good value.

The Sync display feature is under-rated. It is so useful compared to the common firmware on stock UV-5Rs. The ability to scan a range instead of the entire spectrum is very effective and efficient. The comprehensive freq range of this radio makes it a great addition to a bug out bag. Pairing it with a Nagoya NA-320A Triband HT Antenna and a 3800ma extended battery with USB charging is highly recommended. It really should be part of the default kit.

Well built like many of the other Btech/Baofeng radios. Easily programmed with the free downloadable CHIRP software, or in the field using front panel buttons.
